How actually is Veilguard as a game? I have not seen anyone discuss the story or gameplay, just Tash.

I did not play it myself because I never cared for the series but I know a guy who is and he liked the gameplay. Writing is a bit of a letdown because they removed many of the edges of the lore and whitewashed aspects of it because apparently having actual no deniable evil entities is a no no now.

apparently it was more fun to play on Easy because on normal it gets very fucking grindy halfway through. The story is also pretty lame i heard, outside of the cringe parts even. Now pull a Barv.

I would have been okay with that character if she wasnt non-binary an had no NB character arc. is she was just a big muscle girl trope that was DTF for MC it would have been hot.

Still wouldn't work because of how fucking ugly she is. They all are. The pajeeta has zero chest and a fucking pegleg, also simps over the faggy assassin more than you even if you romance her. The chinese elf also has negative chest and a horseface. Even Harding has negative chest now and her romance makes your character act the cringiest of all, spouting retarded effeminate shit and spinning around in circles like a fairy. Awful.

It thought it was fun but really grindy if you don't know how to abuse elemental weaknesses on higher difficulties/higher leveled enemies
My first run was a warrior and abusing his captain america-esque shieldthrow with necro life drain was neat, but my next run with a mage and its elemental fuckery and orb knife was more satisfying , but would've sucked if I'd done it first as it's more demanding of mechanical knowledge

All the stuff with Stolas is legit pretty good. The issue is he's hardly in the damn game. The story losses steam once he takes a backseat.
Basically the first 2 hours and last 2 hours of the game is decent. Everything else is mediocre - straight up bad.


And that's just the story and writing.
Your companions are all bland as fuck and Taash is straight up the worse character Bioware has ever written.

Lots of partical effects and flashy animations that seem out of place and don't really do anything significant. Writing and voice acting is similar to B flick scifi/fantasy. Think Battleship/Moonfall/Witcher Blood Origin/Transformers/etc. I played it with my little brothers and they just wanted me to run in circles most of the time.

Gameplay is painfully average, it's somehow fun until about halfway through when you basically have your build set in stone and then you want combat to be over as quickly as possible. The game also only has 5 enemies in total and does that annoying thing when you walk somewhere and it spawns mobs out of nowhere like it's a fucking random encounter. Story is bad 2 ancient Gods awaken and you're making a team Mass Effect 2 style, the writing is abysmal, and not in a funny or cringe kino way, in an annoying and boring way it uses alot of modern day California lingo. About the only thing that is good about it is that it's pretty, polished and runs well and that's rare in the age of UE5 slop.

It's a typical generic, safe, sanitized piece of forgettable garbage. No bite, no edge, feels like its made for emotionally fragile millenials and toddlers. Everyone loves you off the rip. Every single fucking companion has a reddit tier personality so bad that ones entire persona revolves around his consumption of coffee while the others are just varieties of 'inoffensive quirky retard'. No nuance. No complexity. Good is good. Evil is evil. Gays are perfect and know everything, family is ignorant and bad. A lecture about respecting the gays pronouns while the gays disrespect everyone elses, because again perfect and can do no wrong. Only one actual edgy choice in the entire game and its whether or not to kill a capitalist greedy white man who got tricked by demons into doing something the demons could've done without him. The entire arc of the story is literally just elf gods bad because... bad. Morrigan inclusion because Morrigan inclusion, no characterization whatsoever ends up filling the role of generic guide that any other rando NPC could've done. Of all the games that have third person action combat this game is one of them. Which is all that can be said about the gameplay.

I could go on and on but fuck that. Which is ironically how I felt about the game.

I liked the combat a lot for the first half but there is barely any enemy variety and enemies get way too spongey by the half way point.

In general the game is far better then people treat it but a lot worse then it should have been. There are genuinely moments and scenes where the writing is actually quite solid, however, it is let down massively by just how hard the doses of cringe are in certain moments.

The coffee obsession is also kind of strange? I don't think I ever heard the word coffee once across the entire series before this game, and now suddenly it's brought up all the time. Like one quest was literally going to a cafe and me being drinkshamed for not liking coffee and wanting tea instead

I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this but it's the best Bioware game from a gameplay perspective. They've finally found a good way to make engaging action gameplay and it's wasted on Veilguard, Dragon Age too because it only had one good game and that was back in 2009
