Yellow Turbans were the good guys. Tiny Cow Cow, Looey booey and Sun Who were just mad at how much charasmatic aura Zhang Jiao had.

All these "rich" and "cultured" history and it's just a bunch of retards mindlessly throwing bodies at each other until the mongols fucked them up. No wonder the Art of War's basic bitch instructions like "feed your troops lol" was such a boon to them.

either way, the gooks had the whole mandate of heaventhing going for them, so when shit went bad, that was a handy excuse to have to rebel then, as it were, since everything had gone down the crapper and the rulers then of course had lost their divine mandate to rule the masses n stuff...

There's plenty. Every dynasty followed the same pattern of bloated corruption leading to upheaval. It's just that the legwork of creating well known/defined and recognizable characters has already been done for Three Kingdoms China.

Trying to make period pieces in eras like the start of the Qin dynasty (Qin unification wars), or the start of the Han dynasty (Chu-Han contention/Eighteen Kingdoms), or after the collapse of Jin, the Ming revolt against Yuan, the funny Chinese brother of Jesus Christ with the Taiping Rebellion would be super cool. But also require them to do work for once.

I don't think that's true at all. There's plenty of people who go from "Restore the Han" by massacring the eunuchs or deposing Dong Zhuo to declaring themself emperor in a few years time.

Yes they were the good guys. But 3K is a work of political propaganda so of course the downtrodden peasant movement is depicted as despicable for opposing their oppressors.

>Taiping Rebellion
I watched the CCTV adaptation and it SUCKS. Show was janky as hell but the real problem is the source material. Every fuckup that happens is due to their founder kings being horny, greedy and/or petty, such that it becomes incredibly repetitive and dumb by the end. Unlike Ro3K '94, which was also janky but yet enjoyable, there aren't any big set pieces, epic battles or 1v1 horsefights, since every conflict in that period was settled by guns and cannons. This webm pretty much sums it up.

Then the show had the audacity to add a closing narration trying to frame the Taiping niggas as heroes, when we've just witnessed how fucking stupid they are over the whole show. The true heroic ones where the younger batch of generals/kings but even they got fucked up and undermined royally by the founders.

Yeah Water Margin is painful to read/watch past the gathering of 108 stars, since Song Jiang keeps wanting to make peace with the Government only to be fucked over repeatedly by the scheming officials until 2/3rds of his niggas r dead and he himself gets poisoned.

Its strange how Water Margin ends up being more conservative than RoTK despite being about bandits and fugitives. Song Jiang is patriotic to a fault while Liu Bei reluctantly accepts the role of Emperor. You get the sense that RoTK still thinks the emperor at least ought to be a virtuous and wise person that wont let himself be fooled by sycophants while the Water Margin is indifferent about the emperor being a puppet to his supposed subjects.

True classics, man. It's wild how these ancient stories still fuel hours of shitposting and deep dives. Half the time itโ€™s scholarly debate, the other half itโ€™s screaming about DW tier lists. Beautiful chaos.

its still worth it despite him, the combat mechaanics and battles are light years beyond all the previous games. And all 10 weapon types play very differently.
