Nintendo can take away your gamer privileges for any reason at any time and without a warning. Effectively bricking your console because it uses really aggressive DRM that needs a constant internet connection.

You mean it was far easier to pirate. >get cartridge backup/copier >rent games from blockbuster >make backups and keep them forever after returning the games to blockbuster >rent more games and repeat
>>714170808
RROD sucked but to a certain extent it's not their fault and Microsoft would fix it or sent a replacement. This is the company killing your console remotely over reasons that are not yet fully understood.
>inb4 muh piracy
You know what? The Switch 2 will get hacked and pirates either keep it offline or have access to tools like Emunand if they still want to go online. This will just hurt legitimate users, at some point there's gonna be a mass ban wave because jeetcode triggered the anti piracy system. Not to mention Nintendo is getting trigger happy and it will only get worse, who knows what will get your system nuked in the future.
>>714171958 >I mean fuck the n64 emulator to this day is garbage.
I don't get why do people have so many problems with N64 emulation? are you still using project64 like a retard who uses ePSXe to this day?
>>714169650 (OP)
It's the new goyim console.
Basically it always needs the Internet for everything.
No internet? Then fuck you - you don't get to play your video games.
>>714169650 (OP)
That Switch cannot use Nintendo's servers at all. It may still be able to play physical games, but only if they do not require downloads. A factory reset will brick it.
>>714173325
1.6 released like 2 generations after n64 launch, you didn't try to emulate things on 2001 when pokemon stadium rendered grey models without textures at snail pace
You weren't there
>>714176961
How about that one guy that got bricked for naming his account twink link? Or the other guy that got bricked because he bought a digital code from some random site?
>>714177104
Precedent. >>714176961
Users are only half of the equation. The other is software providers, and they're just as prone to fucking up. That's why hyper aggressive DRM is a risk for the consumer.

No cap, you guys are the reason Nintendo is cracking down so hard on gamers. Good people are suffering because bad people like you thrived.
It says a lot that Microshit has, for 2 whole console gens, failed to replicate the success they had back when every 360 they sold had to be brought back in for repairs or replaced.
>>714178686
That's kind of dumb isn't it, but I doubt it, Nintendo are just a bunch or control freaks, clear example is TotK, the only patches they ever released were to remove duplication glitches, yet they never wondered why everyone was using them(I didn't because I'm a huge autist and that kinda hurts my brain, but still), no, everyone must play the way the devs intended, no fun allowed.
>>714178686 >you guys are the reason Nintendo is cracking down
The reason Nintendo's still doing anything is because you retards keep buying their shit. Stop supporting corporations.

Dolphin ended up being functional faster then Project 64 did. N64 games were notoriously difficult to emulate for some fucking reason I never looked into, and only became functional long after Dolphin did. Nobody was emulating N64 games prior to at least 2012. Dolphin only started to be functional somewhere around 2014 - 2016. Early on you had to fuck around with settings a lot to avoid crashing. Prior to 2014 people on forums would suggest you save your game every 15 minutes, because it fucking crashed every 15 minutes, and they thought saving every 15 minutes was a completely reasonable solution, and would straight up attack people for telling them the emulator was non-functional if you had to save every 15 minutes.

Their games entertain me. I'll support them for as long as I derive enjoyment from their products. It is to my benefit when they succeed, and they will succeed. Get bent.

I did a quick reverse image lookup and this picture links to a reddit thread that of a user of the MiG Switch which is a device used to play backup copies of your Switch games. The Switch 2 basically bans you if it detects such device because they are under the wrong impression that this is a pirating device. It actually can't play Pirated games because it needs a cartridge specific key to load games on it. Worse case scenario you have someone selling their games after making a backup which is indeed piracy bur the device itself isn't for piracy.
The danger of the Switch 2 is that because it has such an aggressive DRM people are worried that it will ban users who buy used games.
>>714178686
It's not piracy that caused it, in fact Switch 1 piracy was actually quite niche, you needed a V1 model and those were in limited supplies. No, it's fucking game journalists writing articles about how beautiful Metroid Dread looks when emulated in 4k on Day 1. There was the early leaks too and then the retards openly making money developing the emulators. If this is such a problem maybe Nintendo should consider releasing a proprietary app on PC and start selling some games there. This aggressive DRM is basically what the Xbox One wanted to do except there's a risk of bricking your console if something goes wrong somewhere.
It would be hilarious if an exploit is found that completely blows open the console meanwhile Timmy get's bricked because he inserted a game with dirty connections.
>>714181034
You'd probably still get banned when you go back online and you have to go back online eventually because it's basically an always online device. What I don't like is the potential implications, normally the console manufacturers detects that you are using a CFW or are cheating in a game and then a ban is issued. But just from inserting an irregular cart in the port? It should give you a message that it's not valid and end there. Imagine if your PS5 or series X got bricked for inserting a BD-R with dolphin porn on it or a Wii game.
>>714171467
You can still do this at the library. I live in georgia and my library is a part of pines so I can pretty much get any blu-ray or dvd I want as long as it's in the network and rip it with make mkv. I don't do it though because I like owning discs more than borrowing them.
>>714171398
I use GameFly for PS5 and Switch games still, kinda surprised they're still in business honestly but I guess I'm partially responsible for that
>>714169939 >because it uses really aggressive DRM that needs a constant internet connection. >>714172664 >Basically it always needs the Internet for everything.
Why do you people spout such lies?
