Games that are more of the same but better tend to sell poorly compared to the first title because the only people buying it were fans of the first game. This was the case for Nioh 2 vs Nioh 1 at release. Or God of War Ragnarok vs God of War 2018. The sequel would have to be a completely massive scope for it to garner a new fanbase like Witcher 3 vs 1 and 2.

Ragnarok also had the SBI stank all over it, the black goddess, fat Thor, wimp Odin and the story going in a dumb and unfulfilling direction didn't help either
I was instantly put off of the game the second I saw fucking vtrannies next to Kojima and in the game.
