>>714192070I could agree with SA1 and 2 to some extent, but '06's Sonic moves like a tank. Not on ice like Unleashed's Sonic when not boosting, but a tank nonetheless. The level design in '06 also isn't that great. It's a step up from boostshit to be sure, but only just.
>>714193896No, he's right. Too much speed ruins the balance. That's why people often shat on Advance 2, even before boostshit was a thing. Too much speed just feels mindless and repetitive. You need actual substance to the spectacle. Sonic Team is incapable of finding that balance anymore.
>>714194208I'm sorry but you're wrong. Sonic is slow and clunky as mentioned above. You're practically stopping every 10 seconds to interact with some dumb gimmick or action set piece which wrenches control away from you for like 20 seconds, or doing a LOT of homing attacking health bars with enemies attached to them. (The cheese with the bounce attack doesn't count because there's no way that was intended behavior. It shreds even the toughest enemies with zero consequence.) Very little actual platforming gets done in '06. But at least Sonic has the honor of just being "okay." Meanwhile, Shadow's campaign alone is some of the most boring Sonic gameplay ever written to disc. His vehicles are not fun or engaging to play with. He's like half the speed of Sonic. His """"combat"""" is mindless, tedious button mashing which further slows down the pacing. And that's not even counting Silver's agonizingly slow, janky gameplay. OR the amigo characters who don't always necessarily slow things down a ton, but do heavily disrupt the flow of the gameplay for entirely pointless sections that often add nothing of value or entertainment aside from maybe "Look, you can play as [you're favorite character]!" Like I agree with most of what you said before, but what the fuck are you on about man? The pacing was absolute trash just like the rest of the game. People 100% complain about this aspect of the game all the time.
