Out of every JRPG franchise /v/ talks about, how does Xenoblade (semi) consistently end up being the one everyone (kind of) likes?
Countless threads calling Final Fantasy western slop, Dragon Quest boring and lame, Persona normie shit, but Xenoblade manages to escape the "it was never good" dilemma. The most I ever see is infighting, which is pretty normal.

I think you just get that impression because it’s a Nintendo game and therefore actually gets discussion at all.

The infighting goes pretty far beyond normal levels for /v/. Every thread gets raided by resident schizos who just ritualpost and spam porn until arguments start.

Regarding the “/v/ likes it thing,” I don’t really know. The threads are very insular and are frequented by the same small group of people from what I can tell; bringing up the series in any thread outside of it brings out a lot of vitriol

Xenoblade (or at least, Xenoblade 1) is the the modern Chrono Trigger in the sense that it's not the best JRPG you'll ever play but it's one of the most polished, exemplary and consistently all-around good JRPGs of its era.

Persona got taken over by normal fags otherwise it was definitely /v/s favourite, maybe competing with DQ.
DQ just hasn't had much going on as of late.
Final Fantasy has hit meme status in most peoples eyes.
Xenobalde on the other hand is not so popular as to be ruined by out groups, and not fucking dead.

I finally realized this lurking in Xenoblade X threads. It was insane seeing actual video game discussions. It's very obvious to anyone that the jannies are biased up the ass (and I say this as someone who likes Zenoblade).
Honestly, I don't think Zenoblade threads would have the quality they do if it weren't for the franchise being owned by Nintendo.

Xenoblade is an important brand for Nintendo. That's the only reason you see a more or less positive attitude appearing in the threads. Everything you see on /v/ is skewed because of a few autists and their bots who try to create positive/negative views based on brand worship and religion.

Just finished the first one (liked it).
Have always been interested in X and 2, but I hear the most polarizing opinions on both. It's either "X/2 is the best game ever", or "It's literally aids".

It's not that /v/ likes xenoblade, but that /v/ has a community of xenofags.

The first game was and still is one of the greatest jrpgs of all time and the sequels don't stray too far so of course they too would be great.

I didn't really like 3 all that much. I still like it, but I felt like it had the most boring cast, the worst villains and they traded a rich, vibrant world with all kinds of fun and neat villages for the sake of their narrative.

X is shit.

Dunno about /v/ liking it, the games are far too niche. Maybe the small fanbase means they will try to prop it up in other threads at best.
Anyway, Xenoblade doesn't have the same mass appeal that Persona (school dating sim) and Final Fantasy (years of nostalgia) have.
Considering it is exclusive to Nintendo, and most Nintendo fans don't like these kind of games, I don't think there's much room for Xenoblade to grow as big as those two unless something radical changes.

It doesn't help that the Xenoblade fanbase on /v/ is extremely polarized and full of hyper autistic tribalistic assholes.
