>>714223712 (OP)Reminder this isn't the launch price. Nintendo Gamecube was doing so poorly they had to lower the price multiple times and it still wasn't enough. It launched at $250, then they had to drop it to $150, then they dropped it to $99 and STILL nobody bought it because nobody wanted it. Gamecube wasn't popular and having one at the time wasn't great if you didn't have a PS2 or even an Xbox to compliment it. 3rd party games were all better on PS2 or Xbox save for RE4, Viewtiful Joe, and Killer 7 and even then it was mostly in visuals and loading times. PS2, the weaker console, still beat Gamecube in the 3rd party games it took from Gamecube (RE4, Killer 7, and VJ were all supposed to be Gamecube exclusive) by offering more content and features in the games. Although I don't think Killer 7 had any added features though. The disc size meant Gamecube wouldn't even get games that the PS2 and Xbox got despite being well within the power range to get them. Which meant Gamecube had to rely on first party games to sell the console. So you had Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Luigi's Mansion, Melee and Animal Crossing being the big games there with Metroid Prime and F-Zero also existing on the platform. Nobody was going to trade God of War, Halo, Fable, KOTOR, Burnout 3, Ninja Gaiden, Midnight Club, Tekken Tag Tournament and CvS 2 (on a non gimped controller), GTA 3/Vice City/San Andreas as well as a multitude of games you can play online so you can play with Mario cleaning up dirt on the ground, Saturday Morning Cartoon Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Melee. Nobody was going for that when they had other, better options around.
