I'm tired of this idea that Ceroba isn't allowed to move on. People are allowing her character to be shit because the writers made her this way, but really it doesn't have to be.
She's a fictional character, and I feel there's room to bend her character a little to be more than a footstool to Chujin.
Also it's fucked up that the writers included Starlo's crush on her in the first place, since it makes him look cucked. If I were in charge of writing, I would've saved much trouble by not including it.
But it's too late for that now. I think it would be better for Starlo to confront his feelings directly rather than wave it off. That would be the best form of closure for Ceroba and Starlo.

Honestly, when it comes to everything Ceroba did in the pursuit of fulfilling Chujin's project with the serum, I don't really see anything she did as being too much worse than what Asgore did to try and break the barrier.

UTY wrote Flowey surprisingly well, but one consequence of it is people started to attribute way more power to him than he actually has. Just about every story I read regards him strength-wise as an infallible, unstoppable force of nature, when he's an ambusher and schemer who can't actually fight worth a dick.
It's especially egregious considering the fight against him in UTY is literally against his imagination

One of the things that makes the original Undertale work is that all the major characters are connected in some way with all the other major characters. It's not that literally every character has a direct relationship with every other, but for an example the six main monsters that appear at the end of the pacifist route are at most two degrees separated from each other through other members of those six (e.g. Papyrus <-> Undyne <-> Alphys, Sans <-> Toriel <-> Asgore). There's no instance of a character walking in and literally nobody recognizes them, it's one loose-ish web.

The problem with UTY's main cast, and that Dalv is the most glaring example of, is the only connection most of them have with each other is through Chujin or Kanako, two characters that are completely absent from the story due to being dead or abandoned to the slime respectively.

Dalv does not know Martlet, Starlo, Ceroba or Axis, and if he's ever heard of any of them it would be through Chujin or Kanako.
Martlet does not know Starlo, Ceroba or Axis; she recognizes Ceroba as Chujin's wife but that is all.
Starlo and Ceroba do not know about Axis, and even Ceroba mentioning Chujin to Axis doesn't give the pair a relationship.

Other than the close bond between Starlo and Ceroba these characters have one total link (maybe two for Dalv), and it's through a character who's not around to bring them any closer to each other. When Dalv shows up at Clover's garbage dump viking funeral, not a single person recognizes him, not even Ceroba who let Dalv babysit her child at least once.

And I'm not saying having all these characters be spun from Chujin's influence is impossible to make work, but it would require, if not a livng Chujin, then Chujin and Kanako to be MUCH more important to the plot beyond character backstory motivations, with their past actions more directly influencing the present plot. We didn't get that, so these characters don't know each other at all.

I'm gonna go easy on you and assume that you haven't played through the game in a while, but you're wrong. As in, what you say is flat-out incorrect. Going to the True Lab to get Kanako was a cover story she told to Clover and Starlo before she and Clover left the Dunes and went into the Steamworks, her actual reasons for trying to take Clover's soul were to try and complete the serum to fulfill Chujin's legacy, not to try and help Kanako. This is why she leaves the party at the end of the Steamworks if she detects that Clover has an "impure" soul, because their soul won't work for the serum anymore, as demonstrated by Chujin and Kanako with the serum made from the integrity soul.

Basically, she said she wanted to get to the True Lab to try and help Kanako as a cover for taking Clover to the True Lab, where she probably planned to kill them and use their soul and Kanako's body to try and make the perfected version of Chujin's serum.
Of course, it's questionable as to whether or not any of that would've panned out even if Starlo hadn't intervened at the end of the Steamworks, but my point is that reviving or otherwise helping Kanako was never on the table, as Ceroba already considered her as a lost cause and was only looking to use her to complete Chujin's work after that.

No it didn't, it's a perfectly reasonable plot twist, and having the game actually pivot to being about saving Kanako would've made no sense at all.
I made this comparison in another thread a while back, but having Kanako actually show up as a character with a direct presence in the story would've been a bit like that alternate ending to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 where Peter's dad turns out to have been alive the whole time and just shows up for no reason. It would've been a complete ass-pull, it would've made no sense at all, it would've been a major distraction from what the story was actually about, and it wouldn't have actually added very much at all. It's a good thing that ending was cut, and it's a good thing Kanako didn't show up in the present of UTY either. Both of these characters served their purposes in their respective stories, and they didn't need to exist outside of that. I understand wanting to see more of them, but it's not a *problem* that they didn't appear more.

Ceroba not intending to revive Kanako and actually planning on going to the lab for the sake of finishing Chujin's serum is what we typically refer to as a "plot twist", and it makes perfect sense when you look back at how Ceroba acts during her and Clover's time together through the Steamworks. It explains why she doesn't let you use the mail system in the Steamworks, since she doesn't want anyone else knowing that you're with her, it explains why she doesn't just have you take an alternate, more open path to Hotland, and it explains why she abruptly leaves you at the end of the Steamworks if she detects your soul isn't pure. As Flowey says, it's because she was just using you.

If Clover was still going to sacrifice themself, it makes more sense for them to give up their soul for the good of the entire underground, as opposed to giving up their soul for the sake of someone who's practically dead already, and who giving up their soul for might just not do anything.

Everything was hinting at the plot ending with Ceroba killing Clover and using his soul to heal Kanako (and maybe giving the rest to Asgore).
Integrity was ambiguous-at-best, so her soul either wasn't pure or just kept resisting the attempts to make super-soldiers until Chujin died and Kanako fell down. Pacifist Clover was an absolute saint, so he wouldn't resist being used to heal Kanako.
This neatly ties up the plot threads and makes it so that Clover's sacrifice makes sense beyond just making Asgore feel bad about an absolute saint dying slowly and painfully.

Ceroba's clusterfuck of a story makes more sense when you realize she was originally written to be evil.
By comparison, BetaRoba is a 2-dimensional character with a basic yet coherent arc. Everything BetaRoba does is for her own gain, and it makes sense why she injected Kanako - It was entirely on purpose.
This is why Ceroba's motivations make no sense. The devs made massive rewrites to BetaRoba, but kept the same story beats to make her more sympathetic.
In the end, it just made her look negligent and frankly stupid. BetaRoba's a basic bitch, and I can't say I would've liked her story more.
But if you see Ceroba as a rewritten version of BetaRoba, her actions appear less confusing (and honestly less frustrating) overall.

As much as I dislike UTY's sprite style and overall monster picks, it is hard to tell how much of UT's own "style" is more a result of Toby's inability to sprite. It is easy to call Ceroba painfully on the nose and generic, or that UTY monsters lack that certain "edge" that makes UT monsters more monstrous, but Deltarune does just have a full family of reindeer. The Cattenbergs are just that, cats. Most of the most popular monsters like Muffet, Tasque Manager, Sweet Kap'n K_K, Elnina and Lanino are designed by guest artists and not Toby or Temmie Chang. And given how Toby says his favorite Touhou is Ran Yakumo, a kitsune, I do find it difficult to argue UT's aesthetic and warped creature design came from a place of genuine integrity and more just Toby unable to fully realize his visions and people just filling in the blanks for him.

UTY definitely sides harder on cute monster girl looks and aesthetics, the closest you get to the FUCKED UP look of Alphys and Undyne would be Starlo and arguably Axis. But I don't think UT was necessarily skirting around such. I think it does want to be cute, Toby just isn't the best at imagery.

Something that separates UT and UTY designs (at least for overworld sprites) is in their expressions. With every UT/DR design the monsters show expressions on their faces which gives you an insight on who they are. Like Undyne has a toothy grin, or Berdly has a smug look.
With Yellow, a lot of them either have a blank expression or don't have one at all. Ceroba is the most blatant perpetrator. Her sprite looks like she's constantly pissed off, or she's giving you a lifeless stare. It's telling you that she isn't exactly charming or likeable like the impressions that UT sprites show.
Even ones like Martlet who you'd think would reveal some kind of personality through their sprites lacks any identifiable expression. Starlo's at least an outlier to this.

Honestly, Ceroba giving Kanako the serum was stupid, but outside of that she seemed to have been a decent parent, she was just put into an extraordinary circumstance with Chujin passing down his serum project to her. If Chujin hadn't gotten himself killed, or just didn't leave his project for her to continue, there never would have been a situation where Kanako would've fallen down, life would've continued as normal.
Really, Ceroba kinda reminds me of a post I saw where someone was describing how they headcanon how the 9 mercenaries from TF2 view gun safety, and they described the Scout as having been "raised by a woman who thinks that a high enough shelf is a safe place to keep a loaded gun around a child". I feel like that could generally apply to Ceroba when it comes to dangerous things like that. Like, she's a decent parent in the vast majority of contexts, but she's also a bit simple-minded and short-sighted, not really factoring in all the possible risks of certain scenarios.

Also, I don't think she's strong for "no apparent reason". I said it before in a thread a while back, but I think the reason she's as strong as she is, as well as for why she *seems* to get stronger when she has that mask at the end of her pacifist battle is because she's getting a power boost from having some extra determination, just like Undyne has in UT. Undyne gets a massive power boost from her determination, enough to prevent herself from dying and reshape her body and armor, and she gets that determination boost from her emotions when your attack hits her before the fight. Ceroba's basically getting the same thing, except that her emotions are connected to a physical object, as opposed to Undyne feeling the hearts of everyone on earth or whatever the fuck she was talking about.

Yes, injecting Kanako with the serum was stupid from the perspective of Chujin having explicitly told her not to do that, and aside from honoring her late husband's wishes, she shouldn't have done it simply because of the massive risks involved with a person she deeply cares about, but from the perspective of actually trying to finish the project, it's not like she had a lot of other options for test subjects. Kanako was the only boss monster she could get her hands on, and she was under a lot of pressure to try and finish the serum, not only to try and fulfill Chujin's legacy but also just for the sake of making things a little better for monsterkind. That coupled with her general lack of scientific expertise, and we get what we saw happen in that flashback.
Ceroba wasn't malicious, she was just way in over her head and had limited options, so past a certain point the only way she thought she could make things any better was to just keep going, a bit like Asgore collecting the human souls.

Alright, that also sounds like footfaggery, but it's something. Maybe better dexterity, or balance when standing, whatever you'd call it, something like that could work. Mostly I'd just say that anthros having paw pads doesn't make *less* sense than anthros having digitigrade legs does, simply because having digitigrade legs kind of runs counter to the idea of being anthropomorphic in the first place, whereas having paw pads would largely just be unnecessary as opposed to actively counterintuitive.

I've seen plenty of digitigrade anthro characters, I wouldn't say there's a consensus for this at all. Even in the context of Undertale and its fangames there's the Dreemurrs (and Ralsei), canine patrol squad, all the anthros that have been teased in Wildfire, DRY1 Ceroba, and a lot more that isn't coming off the top of my head.

I mean, I can't just casually give examples of every single image I've ever seen of any of these characters ever, but to give a somewhat specific example, just scrolling through the results for Ceroba images on tumblr shows me a bunch of images of her with plantigrade legs, and images of her with footpaws. And this is tumblr, which means pretty much all nsfw results are filtered out.
Obviously not a conclusive result, but it is something worth considering.
If we're talking about pornographic but not foot fetish images, I'd say most of the results for the various UTY cast memebers on esix depict them as having plantigrade legs too.

If I was to give my own person thoughts:

The jiggle physics when Martlet moves is actually good. I actually quite like that, and it was how I imagined it would look like when in motion.

If there things that were you planning to add the mod regardless of how bizarre they may seem, I'd say implement them.
At the end of the day, if it follows the theme of giving Martlet her canonical proportions, then I wouldn't be afraid to add them in.
Be that og Martlet, Zenith Martlet, or Zenith Martlet's death.

This is more just a thing you could potentially do if you want, such as adding more frames of animation things a little smoother. Although I think it looks just fine.

All in all just go nuts, and try to make it the best mod you can possible make it.
