I’m a console player so the remaster is a thousand times better. The main reason they even made this is because the game was borderline unplayable in certain areas on the PS3/360, and the PC version was broken without a mod.
I’ll never understand the hate for the remaster, considering it’s literally just a straightforward port that makes the game actually run stable.

Why is the original DS1 their only game to have that shiny armor effect?

The Switch port of the remaster is an exception. It retains the original bonfire animation and original lighting. Only issues are the 30fps and gimped audio quality, but the frame rate doesn't bother me. Neat port to have.
