Because anyone can get into those genres. When I played MW2 on the 360 I played with 10 year olds and 40 year olds who constantly had us back out of the lobby so they could deal with their kid. Souls-likes get hate because they require more than just "dropshot" or double jump, and FromSoft does make them challenging so people feel like the people who beat the games are elitist. And I think people who loved the Souls games and did beat them hate other FromSoft games that have been popular.

I genuinely don't understand the whole gamer creed culture surrounding these games. It reeks of 90s arcade culture but somehow incredibly forced and gay. Like that Let Me Solo Her guy who beat Malenia a thousand times. I think that was because there were so many people who got the game because GRRM was attached and so the Game of Thrones fans came out of the woodwork to play it. I'm going to assume many of them didn't play many other FS or SoulsLikes, so when they struggled against her they cheered him on rather than learning attack patterns like the people who actually did play those other games.

On one side you have the people who are unable to have the patience to learn attack patterns or who want to be "part of the fanbase" without putting in the effort and are shitty because they can't get an easy mode. On the other side it's the people who did learn how to do those things who feel smug about it and feel superior to the casuals
