Why do cartoony villains in a cartoony game have a SERIOUS plot to commit multiversal genocide? Between Sonic and other franchises I cant stand it when this happens.

>takes place after Warped after N. Tropy gets beaten by Crash
>goes from fucking around with time to help Cortex to knowing how to travel across infinite universes
>his ultimate plan is to teamup with his equally sadistic doppleganger to commit some Thanos tier omnicide across all creation
Man something like that is not only way too serious for Crash but some serious final game level threat.

Anon, it's a blue guy trying to fuck a female version of himself from another universe. How do you call any of that "serious"?

The annoying thing for me is that under different circumstances it could have worked, N. Tropy could easily be main villain material for at least one game and having him team up with an alt timeline Tropy in a weird ego-driven selfcest partnership is a funny idea.
But the story refuses to commit to the bit either by keeping it light as a joke or go into it as an actual plot so you get a sort of half baked confused nothing that gets thrown out the window 3/4ths of the way through the game so we can dick around in the future and then limply wring out an obligatory-feeling Cortex fight.

I don't have anywhere near the autistic vitriol for this game that a certain anon on here does but Crash 4 was a bit of a disappointment in most everything but the actual platforming.
And seriously though, why was there a whole world of nothing happening between the N. Tropy plot concluding and Cortex's betrayal? How did something like that even make it past the planning phase? Even Twinsanity, blatantly unfinished as it was, usually had an idea as to what the protagonists' actual goal was at any given time.

Because it's good when done right? You're the type of person to see a cartoon and deem it for kids and then shit your pants when they talk about a heavier subject. It helps if they play it straight without any irony or nudgenudge winkwink shit.

The multiverse is a cheap way to bring in member berries while also claim anything is canon. It also allows for really out of place ideas and crossovers. Executive see this and they see dollar signs, I'm surprised it took them this long to find the value in multiverses.

My basic understanding is that the people making crash for treated the game as they're collective fanfiction coming to life. A mishmash of ideas that don't really follow up and seems satisfied with existing without extrapolating.
