DRM more substantial than a minor speedbump has never meaningfully contributed to the success of a game. If a game fails "because of piracy", then it's because it was garbage, was sold like garbage, was marketed like garbage or because the studio was already mostly dead.
DRM only exists to placate the shareholders when the company starts huffing copium about how their business model "totally works" and "isn't just a scam".

here's what *does* happen: you violated ToS and caught a ban, which is bullshit, but legally binding. or, the devs went under after you bought a membership, in which case you just got burned.

i have never, not once, heard of anyone losing a membership with zero cause and with no remediation. if it happened to you, it's so far outside the norm as to be an edge case.

shouldn't it be the devs/publishers who should do the refunds or whoever pulled the plug?
