Next hl innovation would be easy, actually good enemy ai. Like it really interacting with their enviroment and reacting to what happens. Feels like we never went further than halo tier.

This fat fuck hack literally does absolutely fucking nothing with his money and has doesn't even have the balls to tell devs and publishers to fuck off with invasive DRM like jewnuvo

Tim sweeney pays publishers and devs to release PC ports on PC without shitty DRM and gives away free games. They are operating at a loss with that but it still shows this jewish fat fuck has never once made any move to match that for steam. Since he knows his entire demographic is tranny retards who are on the same level as tendies

Steamies and tendies go hand in hand.

Name one thing HL1/2 introduced outside of scripted mass scripted sequencing. Physics was provided by Havok. Lighting? Piss poor compared to it's contemporaries like Doom 3 or Splinter Cell. Facial animations? MGS2 or SH2 ate it on breakfast.

Not the guy you are arguing with, but they have all but directly confirmed that it won't be VR. The team behind Alyx have said multiple times that they were sad about how little people got to experience Alyx because it was VR-only.

How about Bonzi Buddy AR, but it's Half-Life themed? You walk around with your Deckard VR headset on 24/7 and you have people like Alyx, G-Man, Eli, etc. constantly commenting on everything you do in life and helping you, giving you tips, etc.

We already know a lot about it - it's going to be a fully interactive environment (think Noita, but 3D) + very smart NPCs.
It won't be VR but have a companion VR game.

God I want the deckard now, I can't wait anymore.

I'm fine with this. Half Life 2 in VR is fucking incredible despite lacking all the small details Alyx has. Would still prefer a full blown VR game though turned up to 11. Felt like they held back with Alyx due to focusing too much on comfort.

With the rumor of Deckard being able to play flat-screen games, it's probably what they're aiming for. I'd figure HL3 on Deckard will have its own visual gimmicks to make it stand out, like what 3D movies back in the day.

My opinion:

Valve is afraid to release Half-Life 3 because their entire approach is very old-fashioned. They make straightforward, linear games focused on the player’s point of view, rather than using cutscenes or large background spectacles.

Halo was one of the first cinematic FPS games that told a big, epic story. Call of Duty (even though I hate it) has huge spectacle — even Call of Duty 1 and 2 felt much grander than Half-Life 2, with lots of NPCs fighting in the background. Battlefield pushed this even further with its large, interactive environments.

In comparison, Half-Life 2 feels very small and contained in the background. It’s the same with Counter-Strike 2, which has a much smaller spectacle than Call of Duty, Battlefield, or Apex Legends. Valve probably doesn’t know what to do in the modern market.

Eh I dunno, I feel like games like that can still do well. Look at RE games for example. In terms of format-wise, they're very old-fashioned; single-player, can be finished in 6-10 hours, yet they sold like hotcakes in this day and age. It can work. Also Valve had done a big spectacle game before. Portal 2 was very cinematic despite the player PoV focus in storytelling and people raved at it back in the day. I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for HL3.

I never understood the fetish for Half Life. In fact, if that game proves anything, it's that Westerners don't understand video games and don't want to play them. Half Life is the moment when the arcade focus on total gameplay of Doom and Quake 1 was replaced by simulation, realism, immersion, narrative. It's what Westerners always do with all games. They think that focusing on pure gameplay is a weakness of the medium, while experiencing pre-programmed set pieces within a script as if you were in a movie is the pinnacle of what video games can offer. All of modern cancer is derived from this mentality of people who don't understand video games in a basic way.
Half Life is one of the best examples of this Western philosophy when it comes to games. And it is celebrated by Western consumers, which proves that they don't want games in the first place, they want “experiences,” they want to feel like movie heroes acting in a radical scene imagined by a famous director.
