True enough.
The expansion was sorta ruined by how frequently it gave you charges for the heart, and how overpowered it was.
I dunno, i still enjoyed both. On release and going back to them.

It's hard to really explain what this game was like wen played on older CRT monitors. LED screens did exist in 2003. But this game was notoriously dark on a CRT monitor, which made the flash light mechanic feel like a hindrance. Which lead to the popularity of the Flashlight Mod. BFG Edition was originally intended for VR, and brightens up the environment, adds more ammo. But I think it looks visually worse than the original in ways.

A tighter spread would result in consistently higher damage, just not up close. A shotgun should be effective at 50 yards. The D3 shotgun requires you to feed enemies into the barrel and hope 2 pellets hit.
