When Sony started porting their own stuff to PC under Jim Ryan, they were transparent to investors said upsetting #ThePlayStationNation was worth it because using Steam would give them access to China, Russia and India - basically markets where consoles are irrelevant. m8 they're a good chunk of the reason (probably the main one actually) why Japanese publishers release games day one on Steam now after saying for years PC gaming was of no interest to them. For a long time now they've been the biggest consumers of VNs on Steam by quite a large margin and if you read the Capcom ransomware leaks from a few years back, you'd see that if you discount Japanese sales, Monster Hunter World actually sold considerably more on the PC than the PS4 solely because of China.

They have a population bigger than the Europe, the US and Australia put together and have a surplus of young men because sex selective abortions were so common during the One Child policy.
