bethesda's strength is making memorable maps and settings. say what you want about the quality of the writing but fallout and tes definitely have a lot of memorable iconography. so of course for starfield they made world's least interesting sci-fi setting, one that's too "hard" for crazy planets and cool alien species, but too "soft" to allow for cool space autism (because any space setting that has literal fucking universe resets and space magic is not hard sci-fi in any way). and then instead of a proper map, or even a handful of planets, it's hundreds of uninteresting and boring procgen planets. genuinely what the fuck were they thinking

there's zero bethesda magic in starfield and all you're left with is a mediocre fps and an even worse rpg with mostly uninspired quests. there's nothing to love about it. people didn't even get angry about it, because that would mean that people are passionate in any way about the game. but nobody is.

>worldbuilding pushed all of the major events into a war that happened years ago so you're stuck learning about this new IP through a god damn in-game museum
>economy still feels like their other games but doesn't have the excuse of being medieval high fantasy or post-apocalyptic (why can't I just buy 30 cases of adhesive from a trading conglomerate why do I have to fuck off to planet #589765 to shoot a fucking goat in the balls for their cum)
>base-building is useless outside of farming garbage in order to grind exp by spamming metal dildo production
I have no faith in Bethesda anymore. I barely had any when Fallout 4 came out.

Starfield moved away from the Bethesda formula of having a seamless open world you can freely explore, while finding something interesting to do as you move around the world. They also created a new setting that was nowhere near as interesting as Fallout or Elder Scrolls, so all their weak points became glaring issues, such as their mediocre writing staff and subpar graphics.

Meanwhile Cyberpunk 2077 relied on CDPR's strengths despite the buggy launch, mediocre combat and shallow RPG elements. The Witcher 3 had all the same issues, although it was a lot less buggy. Both games are just glorified movie-game with pretty graphics, good music and tons of quests. Their characters are also attractive and memorable. Not to mention that both settings are borrowed from far more talented writers.

Cyberpunk is made for morons, it's got GTA style missions, a braindead main story and ride-along cutscenes. In you hold forward and click continue on the dialogue you will eventually complete the game

Starfield was made for people to mod. While it's skill tree and weapons are as lazy as cyberpunk it doesn't have the massive city and cutscenes to distract retards

CDPR devs left after getting paid to sabotage the team with activists, still had some appeal to normies with celebrities and early ai slop carried ugly visuals.
Starfield devs left after getting paid to sabotage their team with pajeets, literally couldn't wrangle the fraudsters to do their jobs and bowed out kissing the feet of Todd hoping to maintain a good relationship on their way out.

Overall CDPR RED engine was just more polished than the 1990s Gamebryo Frankenstein engine with visual polish.

Pirated both, played both, enjoyed Cyberpunk more.
What helped Cyberpunk is them not having an expectation that modders will fix it for them, and having a design document I assume. The weeb tiein helped tide over the pissed off early buyers until it was in a playable state. They fixed their shit with time somewhat like No Man's Sky.

even if it was buggy or unbalanced, it still had a solid story and characters, a cool world and decent combat
starfield felt like something made with the specific purpose of being as bland as possible. I don't know why did they do it. From the aesthetic, the characters, the questlines, the rpg elements, the world building, everything is just so devoid of any personality and excitement that every moment feels like a slog

>expecting it to be a video game that it wasnt
fueled entirely by marketing. i know that if i hadn't watched interviews and nightcity wire episodes or the e3 demo i wouldn't have been disappointed by the release version. sure on a technical level it sucked but it wouldn't have those fist sized holes of content that i was expecting to be filled.

I wouldn't pay either of them but with CDPR and after 2077, they probably the scummiest devs out there.
>Lied about the game and showed fake gameplay for years
>Suppressed reviews at release to hid how broke and shit the game was
>Released a shit game then was stripped from market places and so shit on PC 3060-3090 builds couldn't run it

The only reason they "came back" was because the studio was facing and existential crisis if they didn't fix the game. They kept the ship from sinking now but TW4 looks like it could start the sinking again. It's already surrounded by controversy. If you support this dev, you're part of the problem with this industry.

Cyberpunk for all it's jank and disappointment still had an enjoyable main storyline. I didn't care about anything else and felt the city was a massive waste of development time for how much it lacked in interactivity, but it still managed to be less of a waste of time than 90% of starfield which is just embarrassing.

Heres a video that sums it up. https://youtu.be/K4ADco41g9s
Cyberpunk is an actual +18 game, with lots of edgy moments, and lots of well directed scenes.
Shartfield is just bethesdas fallout formula in space, but safe and toothless as fuck

Yes shazamtroon, I bet most of anons remember how dogshit Cyberpunk 1.0 was. However, the game saw an engoodening arc and now its fun and immersive when you play it. Kys

NTA but it's still complete shit beyond the main story. It's been improved but it's still just a shit+1. Anyone glazing it just outs themselves as legit idiot only capable of processing the experinece on the most superficial level.

>>Starfield was made for people to mod
How about they make a game that isn't complete shit first and then worry about mod support? Skyrim at least has a decent world to explore even if the combat sucks dick.

CDPR was a rising star, so they had a genuinely massive hypetrain that could bulldoze past the launch issues and cultivate a player base.
To contrast, Bethesda have been floundering and relying on past glories for years, so a new IP had to prove itself far more and failed.

Cyberpunk lets you fuck about, while starfield has endless transitional scenes to do anything
Cyberpunk had funny bug compilations, while starfield was so boring that nobody cared to catalog any

CDRP used weeaboos to viral cyberpunk into relevance again, then used the sunk cost fallacy to convince the people who had already bought it that they had totally added in all the shit they lied about including at launch.
Bethesda just abandoned starfield as a bad job

Cyberpunk, despite all the marketing lies, can actually be fun in its current state
Starfield is a fucking mess all over.

I like a couple of things about Starfield, like the new game plus loop, the vanguard storyline about the terrormorphs and pulling off the big heist with the crimson fleet. And I guess exploring New Atlantis was okay too.

Most frustrating to me is how half baked some of the stuff is. As a crimson fleet member, I can resolve those settler/fleet radiant quests peacefully. Thought that was a nice detail and figured I could do something similar with the bounties, like I pick up the bounty, go to where the crimson fleet ship/captain is and tell them to lay low for a bit and they just fuck off. Nah, gotta shoot them down.

Game really should have focused more on it's already existing storylines and built upon that some more.

This. The whole Starfield script reads like it was written by toddlers and then censored by HR

Cyberpunk themes have more short attention span normalfag appeal because it usually incorporates violence, sex and transgenderism, you know, the kind of things that appeals to your average American consumer. Space barely appeals to anyone but dorks unless it has fantasy themes and hot alien girls to romance, which Starfield barely has the former and doesn't even have the latter without the aid of mods. Starfield in a sense is almost the equivalent a 90s interactive learning PC game like Math Blaster but is open world and intended for adults, and is maybe also the equivalent of your high school forcing you to attend a lecture on Astronomy. I mean sure, you get to learn about some shit regarding space, yet it's boring to most people, and honestly unnecessary unless you want to pursue that field and join an Astronaut program where you get to fly up to some space station orbiting Earth and spend months or years there looking at planets and stars.
