Lumera's death was laughably terrible. But somehow Engage got it's shit together and managed to polish the turd into something kind of good at the end.

This is not a good example. Characters dying in fiction isn't sad because a character died. It's sad because the positive relationship they supported is now gone. Lumera's death is goofy nonsense because Alear doesn't know who the fuck this lady is. They'd known her for one day, and the player has no context for how much Lumera sacrificed to wake Alear up. So no relationship was ruined because there was no relationship to begin with

Engage's plot is whatever to bad till chapter 21. Then it's like it turns around all the retardation into something great:
Veyle getting free. Alear dies, rerises, dies again and rerises as the Fire Emblem. The insane time travel that explains a lot. Lumera then the great finale against Sombron.
Probably anyone defending the plot thinks more of the later parts or the good supports than of the really bads the game has.

Yeah. I enjoyed picking through every line of dialogue and looking for more and more details. For now Xenoblade 2 is doing it's best to scratch that itch but 3H was special for me

I know there's quite a bit to criticise Engage about, but if I were only allowed to criticise one thing, it would be the death scenes. They're all terrible, without fail.
Hell, Alear dies three times within in a chapter and a half.

The ONLY high note of the second half of this fucking game was Marnie being stabbed in the gut. I know it was supposed to be sad, but that couple seconds were the only genuine joy I felt from the entire second half.
