I guess the argument is not to make a game that should be singleplayer offline and add a requirement to be online and therefore require servers, or at least have a plan for end of life so that you can update the game to no longer require servers.
But the SKG guys have worded things so vaguely that who knows what the retarded EU people will interpret the demands as and actually do. Like there should obviously be an exception or provision for games designed as multiplayer primarily, but there isn't.

Because there should not be. Build your game in a way that at the end of its life you can provide tools to the players to host their own servers, just like it was 20 years ago.
