The hardware seems to have gotten more popular lately, despite the excellence of PPSSPP that can run on anything for years now. Thoughts?

Small form factor, load up a memory stick and you're good. Simple, which is why enthusiasts still like it

it was a good media centre on top of having games
would watch films, listen to music and mp3 sagas, and browse 4chan at night on it

I'd wager general malaise towards smartphones amongst the younger population, that combined with people beginning to realize that touchscreen games suck shit and physical buttons blow it out of the water

the console is half embedded into your skin sideways
you need to use your muscle fibers to hit the buttons on the side that is buried into flesh

Shelved mine after I got a vita which also emulates and stores psp games. Also the battery looked like it was about to explode. It was a good handheld in its prime though.

i love handhelds and still regularly play shit on my sp even. my psp battery borked itself years ago and i have zero desire to replace it because the system is just kind of ass. ergonomics are great but the screen, battery life, the fucking speakers man are all shit. i do i have a ton of physical games though so maybe one day. an oled drop in kit would be cool (man the screen is so fucking ass lol) playing psp on the steamie deck is fun though.
