I actually think most PVP players recognize that. It's the PVE players who are usually shocked to learn that others enjoy rewards only when sufficiently risky.

You'd be surprised at how much oblivious players that do this are about how hurtful to the game it is.
Literally every single wow pvp server failed because of this shit, and pvpers still can't understand that the vast majority of people don't enjoy pvp.

I've come to believe it's all or nothing. You either have a game that is entirely based on PVP in the endgame with all the best rewards tied to it, or you have an endgame entirely based on PVE where PVP just gets relegated to matchmaking instances with rewards that only benefit them in that setting which is basically just a containment area for PVP players in what is otherwise just a PVE game.

PVE players stay winning I guess.

The problem with wow is that pvp is completely unchecked, so you find yourself leveling through a low level zone and an skull level dude from the other alliance kills you in a nanosecond without you ever seeing him and then spawn camps your corpse so you can't respawn a flee the scene.

Yeah and that is hardly the only problem with WoW PVP too. There's just no real incentive for PVPing in that game outside of getting top rank in vanilla for the BIS equipment.
