Do you mean "in the way a child does"? I still get that feeling when I play couch co-op/vs games, every Christmas my friends and I (all adults) rent a cabin in the woods for a few days to hike and chill and at night we usually play board games and old video games like Street Fighter 2 turbo and Streets of Rage 2 and we have a blast, gives me those old feelings.
For single player stuff, I finally got around to beating Fallout 1 recently and loved it, and have been enjoying some arcade racers like Burnout 3 and Flatout Ultimate Carnage, these all put a smile on my face.

you stop becoming a child as soon as you turn 13 so 2009? I was playing pokemon pearl a lot, obsessively completing the dex, harvesting berries daily, making poffins, walking my pokemon at that park, doing underground mine stuff with my brother. Yes that was the last game I enjoyed as a child. dawn was my waifu

The 90's and 2000's were objectively better than current year though so not sure what you're sperging out about

Probably the first time I booted up Wind Waker on my GameCube. I remember thinking the ocean went on forever, sailing aimlessly and getting lost, literally *feeling* the adventure. Didnโ€™t care about quest markers or optimal paths, just pure curiosity. Nowadays I min-max everything and check guides before even starting a game. Somethingโ€™s definitely changed.

When you were a kid you weren't playing every new release, but as an adult now you are, it's expected of you to consume, buy and play every dogshit game.
So here is some wisdom anons, stop doing that and you will start enjoying vidya again.
Filter what you consume

Games became a check box for you, you are not playing because you genuinely want to, but you feel the need to.

Just recently. With the bad news of the FFT remaster I decided to play the War of the Lions version on the PSP. I managed to play for a straight 6 hours before heading to bed.

Monotonous games like Pokemon or Runescape that I used to like playing as a kid a lot, I just have no patience for anymore. Makes me wonder how I ever did.

Streets of rage 2. I played many other games as I got older, but this game right here made me have the most fun ever had playing a video game.
