Credit where credit is due. I picked this up on sale after reading they fixed most major issues with the game and out of morbid curiosity. It sure has some of the typical Ubisoft problems; most notably a lack of world reactivity. and a lack of focus in favour of the open world. The overall quality is higher than I expected though. It sure mogs starfield, which isn't a high bar to reach, but still. It's another shameful dispray of suits rushing the game out the door and immediately ruining the game's reputation. It's not badly written at all, like many things it seems lke a matter of decently written but badly designed. The whole Kay Vess character slides right into that. I really like that she low key sucks at what she does and just improvises on the fly. Her backstory is pretty well woven into it. So far she remains consistent in her traits and flaws despite the ubishit mission structure. Which deserves credit.
It still has some bad shit in it but there's a lot of good shit under the hood just the same. Solid 7/10 experience so far. Maybe more if you really dig star wars, which I don't.

Right, imagine discussing video games instead of shitposting. I'm not saying it's some kind of masterpiece but it's one of the more enjoyable ones that the AAA space I played in recent times. Great atmosphere, great sound design, okay gameplay (lacks depth mostly) and it has atrocious physics but that's a ubisoft trademark at this point.

>Fixed the hitboxes and assorted damage per bodypart
>AI isn't full retard anymore, only slightly
>Runs pretty good
>Metric shit ton of graphical, audio, gameplay and various options
>You can now hold on to the guns you pickup from enemies
>You can now free aim and shoot on the speeder
>More varied contracts and gameplay options
Not a masterpiece indeed but they did not abandon the game. If it had been released in this state it would have done alright. If you we're ever remotely interested in it, it's certainly worth another look.

Yea i liked it also. Ive wanted an open world star wars game for a while and this one was just that. I thought the story was average and kay was just as average. Actually just about everything was average in it. The environments looked nice and all the star wars buildings and characters and items and stuff really looked perfect. That whole aspect is what made the game fun to experience. Just being to run around in star wars land. I really liked being able to clear imperial bases. I just love how they look and i liked being able to wander around them. The faction thing was almost cool but really didn't make enough of an impact for me to care about after the first third of the game or so. I agree with your score.
Jedi survivor is still the best modern star wars game ive played.

how come old game graphics draw you in and make you think 'ooh... what happens here?' and when you look at a pic of modern game graphics it's like "well that's a sharp picture i guess. sure is high res"

Because everything looked weird as hell because they couldn't do things to scale properly, so everything looks odd and like from a dream.

I can get behind that. Certain elements are slightly above average. I'm not even a star wars fan, I just like space shit so roaming around in star wars land doesn't do the same for me. That said, the world certainly feels alive and fleshed out with neat little details and interactiviy sprinkled all around. I certainly did get immersed into it, especially when visiting the villages and bars.
Sometimes games can be just okay with a couple of good design choices thrown in there. Upgrading your shit is pretty cool too, finally a game a ditches skillpoints in favour for finding upgrades in the overworld and actually working for them instead of seeing yet another boring XP bar go up.

Old games left alot to imagination. At least SWO is stylized and not just shooting for boring realism.

Interesting, because I genuinely was somewhat interested on release. The glitches and overall roughness lost me

Release state was all kinds of fucked up. A lot of it has been smoothed over. There is still some jank but nothing annoying or gamebreaking. They've also been smart enough to upload a demo version to Steam last april. No doubt in an attempt to win people over after that shit release so you can check that out and find out how you feel about it now.
