In hindsight, was this the most damaging moment in video game history?

The day BoTW came out. Before that TW3 and before that Skyrim.

I'm 31 how about you post something original instead of parroting the lines you see other anons recycle. You're trying too hard to fit it and it's not working. High school all over again huh? When summer vacation is over it's back to that sweet 10h a day of misery for you.

If you're in your 30s then why do you have such shitty zoomer opinions? Skyrim, The Witcher 3, and Breath of the Wild are the most damaging moments in video game history? Even you must know that's some retarded shit that you'd only say if your existence spanned at most 15 years on this Earth. The only reason you even posted it is because they're all 'le reddit xdddd'.
>>714324080
Only one of those is a Nintendo game, and I didn't even play it. That guy's just a goober mindlessly reiterating shit which he's ironically accusing me of doing. I was the guy that posted this >>714323503 because it was of actual significance instead of just 'game make me angy because too popular grrrr' contrarian shit.

The kinect was the suicidal thoughts and the XBONE reveal was when the trigger was pulled. Microsoft went full retard after an otherwise great start to gen 7 (sans RRoD).

Yep, they saw the Wii's success, and they wanted to edge in on that casual market so badly. It wound up completely biting them in the ass, and their ridiculous Xbox One reveal sealed the deal.

Because they all did the exact same thing. Made a mediocre game that ushered in dozens of clones that are just as shit. Skyrim and TW3 brought in an open world apocalypse and the rise of movie games today. BoTW has causes irreparable damage to the franchise and gaming as a whole with its terrible art style and mechanics. This may come as a shock to you but companies have only recently started (last 15~20years) to do everything they can to optimize the dollar out of consumers rather than try to build an engaging product. A retarded 14 yearold like you on summer vacation wouldn't be able to understand the gravity of the situation when talking about actual catastrophic events in gaming history. Keep your retarded mouth shut and lurk for another 10-15 years then we can talk.

Honestly, this wasn't that bad unless you were a big SEGA fan. Gaming lost some SOVL when they stopped making consoles but they took their loss very well. Some of Sega's best games released after they went third-party.

While this (and dunking on Xbox in general) was hilarious at the time I had a niggling feeling in the back of my mind that Sony got too cocky here. I think it's fair to say that was correct.

>Skyrim and TW3 brought in an open world apocalypse and the rise of movie games today
You seriously have no clue what you're talking about if you think this is even remotely true. It goes much further back than that to games like Metal Gear Solid and the 3D GTA trilogy. Look at how many GTA clones got spawned back then or how many games desperately wanted to start throwing celebrities and cutscenes galore into their shit. It also ignores the fact that open-world Western RPGs, and just open-world RPGs in general, were already common. Skyrim and The Witcher 3 were created because all that shit was vogue, they didn't cause any of that.
Your only rebuttal is 'n-no ur underage!' as well, so I seriously doubt you're even 31 like you're pretending to be.

I think I can say with confidence now that I've been on this shitty site longer than you've been alive.

You're legitly talking out of your ass name 10 open world RPGs that came out before skyrim that were successful. Fallout 3? Oblivion? You mean other Bethesda games that already existed. GTA didn't start any trend of "open worls games" it is contained in its own genre with a single clone of it. Saints Row which flopped horribly after the second entry. Keep trying to rewrite history though.

Your conception of history is limited, probably because of your age, but I'll enlighten you.
Look at the Ultima series, look at Daggerfall, Star Ocean, Final Fantasy games, Romancing SaGa, Chrono Trigger, Fallout (the ones not created by Bethesda, kiddo), Arcanum, Baldur's Gate, Wasteland. Hell, most big budget RPGs in the latter half of the 90's and plenty of games before that.
Role-playing games were always striving towards open-world design, and Skyrim was absolutely not the first to achieve that in any way shape or form.
Also, if you don't think there were a mountain of GTA clones then you weren't alive playing the PS2.
Scarface, Driver 3, The Godfather, The Getaway, Saints Row, Wheelman, Mafia, and a ton of others. They haven't stopped making GTA clones to this day, either, just look at shit like MindsEye.

They had all right to get so cocky though, xbox was doing every retarded move possible, the generation hadn't even started and Sony already had a huge lead simply because they weren't being retards trying to "change gaming" (make it worse)

I asked for a list of 10 open world games that were popular and would have caused the "open world boom" you gave me shit from the 90s that would have had 0 impact on modern games (Yes I know it's hard to understand but a game from 1990s did not cause all companies to start following a formula at once) and non open world linear style games that may or may not feature an "over world" I'll accept that you're retarded and call it there my shift is over anyway sit here and seethe alone.

PS3 had their own "Don Mattrick" moment with their insane $600 price tag but since have redeemed themselves with great line up exclusives with PS4.

Xbox fucked up with Don Mattrick and kept fucking up till today. Big difference.

>games from the 90s apparently didn't impact modern games in any way
>Skyrim just appeared from nowhere with absolutely no lineage whatsoever
>one of the games I posted was Bethesda's own open-world FPS RPG that put the company on the fucking map
I'm losing my mind talking to this retard. Go to your "shift" that you have at your very real job, dumbass.
