I think Miyazaki's way better at making compelling lore when he's writing his own stories. The problem with Elden Ring was that GRRM wrote it, and as good of an author as he may be, his style doesn't really translate well into video games the say Dark Souls's lore does. He's admitted himself that he's not much of a gamer at all. Elden Ring's universe, with all of its varying factions and complex rules, just doesn't mesh well with Miyazaki's design of just leading breadcrumbs of lore.
