it's more efficient to have multiple streams going on while you game so you can beat multiple games at once.

I unironically think a lot of people get such terrible sleep and are so chronically fatigued that all they can do besides work is passively consume media.

I don't watch Twitch as it's an open terrorism platform. I don't watch streamers on youtube either, but if I watched streamers it would be on youtube.

How is watching streamers different than the old days of cable and sitting down watching television all night with popcorn/chips?

They put openly hostile political activists on the front page on a regular basis, which is insane considering what a chill and friendly place it pretends to be.

Well a big part of it is that TV, oddly enough, respects your time more than a livestream. I would rather be a couch potato than a Twitch viewer.

1. Games aren't as good as they used to be
2. Because of 1., less people will even take the risk of investing their time in any game
3. People are replacing socialization they're missing from growing up on the internet or not have friends at work with background noise
4. Replace TV because TV is also shit now, and watching a "channel" that's about video games is more interesting than some random show.

Don't forget that Youtube and Twitch are free and a pretty significant amount of kids don't grow up in households with cable, so that's their only real option for entertainment. The ideal solution would be to pirate a bunch of fun shows for your children and run it off a local server, but that's obviously a lot to ask of the average person.

My understanding is that its a zoomer specific phenomenon, and for them it makes them feel like they have buddies. Its like hanging out with your friends playing a video game. For them their friend is the twitch streamer (and their gf is the qt on onlyfans). its all transactional and one sided. I unironically think social media should be banned for <18s if not <25s

Most medium sized streamers' audiences are nothing but no-life millennials. I'm pretty sure lots of grown ass men watch Asmongold. I've even met guys IRL that talk about watching streamers with their family before.

I am a millennial (married with children). There was no such thing as a twitch streamer for us. Messageboards and forums (like this one) yes, and even then only for the super geeks. Nobody watches twitch streamers

The truth is, Twitch isn't that amazing. I used to enjoy watching South Park episodes, even if it wasn't necessarily on streaming sites, because I chose the episode, whereas on Twitch it was random and I liked it. But since they deleted the channels I used to watch, I don't watch Twitch at all. Anyway, they're just streamers, big jerks, who encourage you to pay for nothing, their content is empty.
