>Sequel just straight up includes the entire first game, at no additional cost

Is this based? You could make an argument for it being lazy asset reuse, but I think it's a shame to let all that older work go to waste when it's barely any additional work to re-implement it. The only other game I can think of that did this was Dissidia 012 and that was easily the best game on the PSP.

Yeah, a couple minutes after posting I remembered another - Persona 4 Ultimax (only the PC rerelease though, you had to buy the P4A story as DLC on the console versions).

Does the Johto pokemon games including Kanto count or is that offset by the lazy hack-yness of the whole rest of the series?

I enjoyedbMT1 but only sank 100 hours or so into it. MT2 has everything that makes MT1 fun but more of it and the new clans are amazingly fun to play. Just finished covenant 8 with Lazarus/Underlegion, which is a pretty broken combo (so is Lazarus/Melting Remnant). Lazarus seems to pair well with almost every clan.

Since heaven and hell are apparently teaming up to fight cthulu or whatever, are the winged playable yet? Surprised no one bothered to mod them in as a faction in the first one that I remember either. Plenty of art asset flips ready to pull for units/ heroes at the least.

Lazarus is easily my favourite MT2 clan as well, but Orechi and Grael are both REALLY reliant on their starter cards so Pyre of Dominion is a huge nonbo. In fact landing Grael/Stygian/Dominion was what stopped me from picking random/random/random instead of just manually targeting clan combos I haven't cleared in the logbook yet, because that was absolute horseshit.

I feel like Lazarus works best as a support bitch role, since their true strength is reanimate and easy access to spikes. That, and that one mob that has quick and sweep, he makes it so ridiculously easy to clear all the low-hp invaders on the first level.
I'm also going to take this opportunity to brag that I managed to solo an 8th covenant Seraph Aeternus with a single Hulking Mass, which is possibly my favorite unit. I did this by enchanting him with 'Dualism' so both his beginning and reanimate armor stacks gave him +80 and 'Reanimate'. I equipped him with a fused Organ Harvester/Glass cannon, since armor prevents 'Fragile from mattering, and Dualism doubles every stack of reanimate he got. Critically I also got the corrupted Titan fountain special event, so his attacks (with dualism) inflicted +40 corruption. I'm pretty sure this Hulking Mass here could have taken on three Seraphs at once.

after finally bothering to turn on the dlc in 1, I've found myself really liking them. Got them to level 10 easy too, but fuck the secondary hero. I keep getting god runs in between trash runs, but then shit ass melee weakness always ends up skullfucking me at the end because I always draw that version of saraph.

Crap, Iโ€™m retarded. I always skip out on glass cannon but you made me realize on certain units like Hulking Mass, the 1 hit kill penalty wouldnโ€™t matter if youโ€™ve got it properly buffed like you did. Thanks for the example, anon.

Honestly there's not that many enemy units with sweep or spikes, so often it's quite beneficial to just stack cheap attack bonuses on backline troops even if they pop from moth farts (bless Ekka and her taste for Taco Bell).

I put about 90 hours into monster train.
Trying the demo for 2 it felt way too visually busy, every unit looks way over designed. And im a bit salty on inkbound feeling unfinished/unsatisfying.

Is 2 worth it?

It's a sequel to MT1 in every sense of the word. It has more everything. It even includes all five (Wurmkin excluded) MT1 clans, which means a total of 180 combinations (which the game tracks, if you're a completionist). If you don't like MT1, MT2 won't convert you. If you think MT1 is 10/10, you'll find MT2 to be 11/10.

How's your Cov 10 Titan crown hunt? 97/180 here, halfway there. Also, Underlegion is the only clan where an early Multistrike + Quick shop is not a guaranteed win. Like wtf. I lost four straight runs with them.

I specifically agree with your critique of the enemy design, it really was too much to the point of just kinda causing my eyes to glaze over. The character design felt a bit tighter in 1, but that's the only thing I really felt got worse.

You're definitely mistaken there, the game encourages playing on all three floors way more than MT1. You have Savagery mobs that do 5 damage to pyre health if nothing's on their floor, you have bosses that scale heavily for each floor they ascend meaning you want to beat them on bottom floor whenever possible, and the deployment phase itself lets you set up on multiple floors from turn 1 unlike MT1 where you had to rely on luck to get a viable multi floor setup.

Yeah MT2 somehow surpassed the first with no compromises.
I still hope DLC will have 2 clans (the one missing from MT1 and a new one), and most importantly unit fusing.

Damn, thatโ€™s some serious grind without crowns to show for it. RNG's been cruel, huh? Honestly, Cov10 feels like itโ€™s tuned to punish anyone not outright breaking the game with degenerate combos. I finally nabbed my first Titan win with a double Emberloop/Distillery setup on Tunneler/Emberborn-just deleted entire floors like it was personal. Maybe try focusing on pairing heroes with top-tier starters and hope for some Broken Logic spice to carry?

Like Steel Pulleyclaw could have been very, very useful for the Seraph and Titan fights. There really should be a "commons" shop where you can buy clanless and starter cards or something.

Not really. The lack of infusions is a big nerf to many units from the first game compared to how they were in the Last Divinity. See: imps, tombs, Eel Gorgon, Legion of Wax, Titan Sentry, just to name a few.

There's basically no way I have 3 actual units with full upgrades that I don't mind getting in random order after 3 turn delay
