I played this when I was a little kid and have little to no memories other than, for some reason, a level where he mostly moves by hanging on some things on a ceiling which became a core memory. Anyway is the game actually good or is it just nostalgia bait?

It's pretty good. It's like $5 on Steam at the moment.

The original trilogy was kino.
The remakes are serviceable. The game's physics are different and take time to get used to if you're accustomed to the original's, but it's not too bad. You also get to play as Coco which is a win in my book.

Literally the best platformers of all time, and this is one of the absolute remasters with a ton of love, effort, and attention of detail put into it.

10/10 one of my favorite games of all time unironically.

It's literally the same games with better graphics and QOL for crash 1 which is the worst one to make it less worse
also some neat shit like playing as coco and time trials in all games, physics feel slightly different but this game is $4 right now and you have to be the biggest faggot contrarian to say it isn't worth it for that

I think a lot of people just played single player crash bash
anecdote but I knew zero people who owned a multitap for the ps1 so who cares if you couldn't play crash bash properly

The remakes are really good but time trials didn’t need to get added to crash 1 and 2
They don’t work very well (especially in 1) because the movement and general level design is much simpler, so there’s not really much to them besides “keep moving”
Crash 2 has some alternate death routes which make time trial strategies a little more interesting, but it’s clear they just retrofitted 3’s system onto the first two games with limited success

Did I beat the game by walking on ropes here?

It's faithful to the originals in most ways for better or for worse. Crash 1 especially shows its age. 2 and 3 are pretty great.
