Those were New Vegas and Demon's Souls. Demon's Souls got to fulfill it's promise and ironically overstay it's welcome. While NV was hamstrung by Bethesda, but it's association with more traditional CRPG writing and structures in a modernized format directly lead to the renaissance of crpg's that started with the Kickstarting of Pillars of Eternity and Wasteland 2
