>>714366974 (OP)In the 90's we were called "Violent, budding criminals whose only taste for life was violence and death"
In the 2000's we were called "Bigots who's sole and only reason for living was to objectify women (on top of the violence)"
In the '10's we were called misogynistic and entitled brats who don't deserve the time of day by anyone or anything"
In the '20's we are being called "Ableist, homophobic, transphobic, LGBTQ+ hating, losers who are doing nothing but harm to the industry"
Absolutely none of these facts has been true insofar as any game failing or succeeding on their own merits. We call out the bullshit pandering when we see it. We call out the namecalling we receive since video games were created. We call out studios/developers/producers who's sole intent is to attempt a cash-grab at minority markets at the entire expense of the soul of a game. We shout down "journalists" who are being paid, getting sex for, receiving perks, and generally being cunts to the body of people who have sustained them when they lie and praise a game for superficial brownie points and social/culture signaling when no praise is deserved and being disingenuous to the people that they try to represent. We call out all the things that any media moguls would rather not have us call out.
So we are demonized for defending our hobby. Always have been. Always will be.
So you know what OP, you giant fucking faggot? We adopted the role.
"Why can't we have fun anymore?" is just a lame ass question from someone who very obviously hasn't a clue as to what's been going on. The question from you should be "Why are all of YOU having fun making a mockery of everything?"
Because it's a circus, and everyone is a clown. Might as well make the best of it and have fun while lighting the tent on fire.
