Just beat it. It was weird but pretty good.
I didn't know you could save Cybil so I got the regular good ending. Also fuck the monster in the fridge with the chain, it made me lose an hour of progress fucking bastard

Still my favorite Silent Hill game after 25 long years, and the one I replay the most. King of survival horrors.

>I didn't know...
That's the point: you're not meant to "know" things, but explore, make mental notes, and replay the game with the power of hindsight on your side in order to unravel new content and mysteries.
The fact that you discovered the Kauffman "side quest" already puts you above most other ADHD zoom zooms, and even a good chunk of us oldfags.

Anyway, SH thread?
Here is the good ol' SH PC Guide + Pastebin of DL links :

These will be the first thing Bloopooper will remove when the UE5 demake arrives.

yep, same experience, I played it a couple of months ago and have been binging the whole series since then
sh is a masterpiece, it doesn't even need a remake, why were boomers hiding this from me and screeching about modern slop instead?

One thing that really impressed was near the end in this long hallway when the camera swung to behind Harry's head to make it feel like something was following him. Amazing design, and the sound design was great in the game too

Ooh thanks, I'm gonna wait a few days before starting up SH2 so I don't get burnt out but I do plan on playing the main series

Team-Silent were absolute artistic geniuses already day 1. Shows that what the corporation considered as their "B team" was just too creative for the biz-head execs.

I highly recommend replaying each and every one of the games at least once before moving on to the next sequel.

Here's something similar for the RE1-3 OG.
Nowadays, you could also download the GOG re-releases for even easier time, or just use DuckStation and emulate the PS1 originals.
The only version to AVOID is the mouthful "Resident Evil: Director's Cut - Dual Shock Edition".

This. I HATED the 2024's SH2 DEI-make, because it literally adopted all the bad over-shoulder AAA memes from the past 15 years and threw 'em into the game. The in-game cinematography and guidance was completely butchered, and replaced with massive button prompts and no joke YELLOW PAINT.

It really is. And the list of downgrades and other fuck ups don't stop there. They essentially took a moody, slow-burn, exploration heavy game (even more so than SH1) and turned it into a "Dark Souls lite" 3rd person combat game. With lots and lots of fighting to pad the game from the original's 6-8 hour average first time run, to 20-25h slog.

It also has many other modern cancers, like checkpoints, more handholdy puzzles, and terrible new character models and acting.

I forgot you can unlock Over The Shoulder view in SH1 when you beat the game.

Harry is immune to thot trickery.
That said, I always found it interesting how he fucking slammed that bitch against the wall. Like, what did he see that made him react that aggressively?
