Both PF2 and 5e are not made for fans of traditional high fantasy. They're both make for fans of critical role and have been sanded down to remove any and all edge from the settings.

That doesn't make sense. The setting is dependent on the GM, and isn't PF2E and 5E high fantasy? You have to really mess with it to get low fantasy out of it...unless you mean the setting of Golarion and Forgotten Realms, then lol lmao

A GM has to go out of their way to readd any kind of edge to the setting and has to intentionally ignore canon-lore and material to do so. D&D 1-3e was a more 'conservative' (NOT REPUBLICAN VS DEMOCRAT) fantasy, while 4e and especially 5e are more 'progressive' with canonical transgendered characters, battle wheelchairs, tons of homosexuality, and critical role.

If you are a fan of Pathfinder2e (pre-master'd content for some reason) and can appreciate little indie RPG games made in a tabletop system (Knights of the Chalice, Solastra, Low Magic Age), you definitely enjoy it. Cheap, decent length, and faithful to the ruleset. Only real annoying thing is the writing. Very "baby's first Order of the Stick-clone setting..."

PF2e is fucking awful and 90% of the mods on the workshop for Dawnbury Days are uploaded by a dev and the icon for the mod is nothing but a trans flag.

I would recommend Low Magic Age which is based on 3.5 with some people having modded additional classes or Pathfinder 1e additions in. No workshop support yet as it's getting updated monthly.

NTA, but personally I think PF 2e went too far. I like that it keeps the complexity of DND 3.5 but there's a ton of filler in it and multiclassing is basically gimped, even though that was the strength of 3.5
