Halo has always been fun, just don't play anything past 3 or 4 (Yeah I said it 4 isn't that bad of a game.)
If you like atmosphere you'll love ODST, if not 3 will probably make you jizz your pants because of how kino it is

Halo 4 is more like Call of Halo. Is fun but is not Halo. Avoid it at all cost. Play Halo 2 and then 3, Reach is not that great but is good too, I'd recommend it with friends. ODST is great, both Reach and ODST has this mode called Fire Fight which is an Horde mode, is fun.
PS: Fuck Israel and gas the kikes.

if you make it through 3, don't listen to the downers, reach is quite fun. great firefights and setpieces. if you're on pc make sure to download the armor unlocker so you can customize your spartan, always neat.

the covenant ship is excellent, the city under evacuation is excellent with some really great gun fights, the city at night with everything burning is great. the only part that really lets it down is the first part of the first level and the space fighter vehicle segment.

4's campaign is fun enough to enjoy, gameplay is decent, Promethean weapons were cool and the sound effects were great. I loved how chunky and meaty everything sounded, even when meleeing as chief you felt like it had alot of "oomph" behind it.
