I agree with the first half of your post but hate the second half
prostreet drag is legitimately my favorite drag racing implementation in a video game
the drift I did think was weird at first but it kind of clicked at a point and I love it now (though some of the drift tracks in prostreet are just straight up garbage)

I remember hating Carbon for being so fucking short and then being hyped as fuck for ProStreet. I played the PC demo and had fun. When it launched I had to play the PS2 version because poor fuck but I still enjoy it a bit.
It was very ballsy of them to do that, sadly it didn't work out because NFS community is kinda like the CS community, they hate change. It's getting some love now but it could've been the Forza Horizon for NFS but instead people just wanted Underground/MW again and that let to basically the series' death.

I agree and I still called it shit despite that
The aspect of building and tuning your drag car is fantastic, it adds endless potential for decision making, plus it's much closer to what real drag is about
Wheelie, tire minigames and 3 runs are just not it. In a perfect world prostreet drag would have none of that, and a steeper difficulty curve to make mid-game less of a cakewalk. Then in the endgame when your builds are finalized it would appear less often
I agree there's a ton of fun to be had with drag on your first or second playthrough but I played a lot more than that, and other modes hold up better

That is the most retarded angle of all giving all downsides and no benefits.
>bumper cam - get to see everything infront obstruction free, trade off is rear of vehicle is now controlled by feel than vision
>cockpit - total immersion and for more detailed games you get all the dials being easy to see and working mirrors for full situational awareness
>external view/heli cam - get to see what the vehicle is doing at all times, expanded viewpoint around the vehicle (so you can see opponents, hazards etc) better. trade off is nose of vehicle isn't visible

Whereas the retarded hood game:
>get the hood obscuring half your view, 99% of games don't have a FoV wide enough so you can't see the corners of your car so you'll hit things even though the viewpoint has you in the clear, dials are now sitting ontop of the hood visually which is a distraction and you get no external awareness
Hood camera is for people who are too retarded to use bumper cam ("can't see where i'm pointing help me"), too retarded for cockpit views ("wtf all this shit is in my face this is stupid") and too arrogant for external cameras because they think they are hardcore ("lmao external cameras are for chumps but i'm a real pro!"). I bet hood users also always drive auto as well.

Obscuring a few feet of pavement? Oh no

I bet you have this problem irl too
>dials are now sitting ontop of the hood visually which is a distraction
Skill issue
Bumper cam is fine, but having the camera that low isn't doing you any favors. Cockpit view is retarded outside of VR. Your FoV problems are even worse than how you describe hood cam.
Chase cam isn't necessary bad but it gives you the least visibility through corners and unless it's one of the few games that locks the camera to the car, you're getting less feedback on what the car is doing

nah
the physics are ass
the music is terrible
so much of the driving is just "drift for a bit then boooooost", grip driving doesnt give enough boost and feels awful
car list is just a slightly more varied version of Heat's which was an upgrade of Payback's which was mostly recycled from 2015, but with a way shittier grind, you'll spend several hours more on 2-3 cars rather than being allowed more leeway like in older games where you werent swimming in cash halfway in but you had enough room to buy 2-3 new cars, grind parts for them and for the endgame you could keep this up until you had your favorites.
cop chases are ass too, you cant damage them much at all and they are way too easy to evade because of bugs and glitches with their ai.

I hate the tracks for drifting in that game, and I hope they use actual drifting competition rules for the challenge instead of artificially making the tracks terrible. It's quite ironic, like the whole idea of Prostreet comes from Formula Drift
Also, I feel like drag racing is just too boring it's so plain. Maybe multiplayer was where this event really shined, since itโ€™s more of a battle of tuning

Any tips for gitting gud at GT4 (Spec II)? So far I'm a mix of golds, silver, and bronze in B license and I am autistically insisting on getting all golds in B and A like I did in GT2 before I go on to actual racing, but I can't seem to get the feel down for how it wants me to brake into corners this time around. GT2 oddly felt so much more intuitive with its handling between rear and front wheel drive.

It's also not really a racing game. All the events seems to be about scoring points by drifting. There's a time limit to reach the finish line but it's so long that it's basically not a factor.

I like hood cameras because my ideal setup is cockpit view but with the steering wheel hidden and almost no games have that these days. Hood cam just takes what you'd naturally focus on (the windshield area and the road ahead) and makes it your whole view. Chase camera fucking sucks and I hate it in every single game that has any amount of sway where the car moves before the camera does.

am I the only one who feels the average arcade racer of the past had better physics/handling than the modern equivalents? the only arcade racer I played recently in which I felt like the handling was actually competent was Wreckfest. Everything else felt massively weird in one way or another. Even Forza and GT, which are often regarded as competent at worst, felt much inferior to previous titles in their line-up.
