>>714429818 (OP)Yes. I emulate on a CRT TV but i still use shaders to control the horizontal and vertical signal bandwidth.
Because my setup (PC with VGA to Component Transcoder) outputs a signal to the CRT that is 100 times sharper than any OG hardware would output. So it needs toning down a little.
I sometimes even ad NTSC shaders if i'm playing NES games for example, coz they just don't look right without it.
>What are your thoughts on using shaders? Which ones?Lottes is probably the best all round one if you're emulating on a modern screen.
But whatever shader you use you have to learn what the parameters are in retroarch, that way you can tweak the shader to look exactly how you want.
Too much blur? tong it down a littler
Don't like curvature? turn it off
etc.
By tweaking parameters in lottes and other shaders in retroarch you can make the screen look like any kind of CRT - from a shitty 14 inch slot mask running via an RF cable, to a beautiful RGB arcade monitor, all the way up to a ridiculous razor sharp Sony BVM broadcast monitor.
