Remove hidden stats, make it so you keep your speed when charging a jump, make rails give you higher tiers of boost faster and remove the stupid fucking mechanic of mashing the item button to stop the item wheel in favor of the lower your placement in the race the faster the wheel stops.

There now the game feels better paced already.

If you don't use exclusively the Pipe Frame kart, you're playing the game wrong.

Off road can be more valueable in 200cc. It'll at least make intermissions go by faster. Assuming 200cc is possible.

CTR Nitro Fueled solved this by separating characters/vehicles from stats, you're just given a few stat presets to use interchangeably. I was hoping it would be among the first changes Nintendo would make in this game, but keeping the old system was just one of its many retarded design choices.

Can any good players here offer any practical tips for improving? I've plateaued at ~8250 VR. I can get as high as 8500 but I lose it all again depending on the skill level of the players. I watch Shortcat on Youtube and try to emulate what he does but I can't understand the secret sauce that makes it work for him but not for me.

In previous Mario Karts, maybe, but here good handling is what allows you to perform those extreme shortcuts like on Bowser's Castle and Great ? Ruins. It's much harder to pull those shortcuts off when your turning is bad.

You have to take away the speed boost in exchange, otherwise the game just becomes charging at all times which would be dumb as fuck. You lose speed when charging for a reason.
