Weird, I had the complete opposite reaction to you at this point. By the time of the Burning Island Climax I was so uninterested in the story. I didn't give a shit about any of the characters aside from Lem (who is best boy and must be protected at all costs), and even through Abbey's eyes you learn so little of the Seattle gang or the Seraphs that the stakes at this part are just nonexistent. It's a cool set piece, but I couldn't give less of a shit about everything happening in that context, I felt no connection at all and it makes the whole thing kind of lame. If the story had spent more time building up the Seraphs or making me care about any of the characters, maybe I'd have felt something but the storytelling is so disjointed and awful that the whole sequence amounts to nothing more than, "cool set piece to play through."

I guess you mean Lev? well funny that's the character that i want to like but i hate that they felt the need to make her a tranny and kinda gives me the ick. I liked the big sister way more, she was cool. As soon as i learned that Lev is a tranny i knew nothing bad would happen to her.

As for the rest, i liked the whole Abby feeling the need to save and protect the two kids, they did save her life (twice) and she is an honorable soldier, i guess. The island as a whole was super fun especially after she is hunted by both the scars and the wolves. Plus i think the best level in the entire game was this infected building where you have to descend to street level and it's full of zombies, that was an amazing level.

Overall i felt pretty invested in her and her story/arc. Reaching the aquarium and then the theatre was really crazy after all that island action. Obviously, all this aside i do wish the game took a different direction from the beginning. But what it delivers i think it's still great.

Druckmann WON. Druckmann achieves daily what Kojimbo can only dream of.
TLOU2 is hated because it challenges the player to think differently. It doesn't give them the happy ending they demand and the comfortable easy going story they expect.

Oh yeah, I meant Lev. And the game never specifically says he's trans or use those words, they just heavily hint at it, but in a way that doesn't feel shoehorned in or forces a narrative or is ever really focused or elaborated on so I never had a problem with it since just the mere existence of a trans person doesn't send me into a seething rage like most people here. I just enjoyed the character overall.

As for Abbey though, I just never cared for her throughout the entire game, and not just because of the Joel/Ellie thing. She is shown throughout her side of the story to be a constant cunt to everyone except the Seraph kids and Owen (or whatever her fuck buddy's name is i can't remember) who she only fucks to ruin his relationship. She has very little redeeming qualities. And it's weird, because Ellie is overall a bitch too, but i can sympathize with her reasoning behind things. Of course the gameplay in TLoU 2 is excellent and I agree that several parts of the island are fun to play through, but it absolutely deserves all the shit it gets for the story, narrative and characters.

It didn't make me mad that they made Lev a tranny but it's one of those things that you don't really wanna see in a post-apocalyptic survival setting since survival is more important than this person's gender issues. Point is she could have just been portrayed as a girl who wanted to rebel against the scars rules because she hated the idea of being forced into being a wife, not because she wanted to be a boy.

And i don't think Abby was a cunt to everyone, she was just a tomboy and talked like one. She liked Manny and Owen and was even ok with Mel despite it all and was always nice with them. She wasn't perfect but i didn't see her as a cunt.

And no it didn't deserve all that shit, only some of it.
