To all the smt old heads, I've been a fan of the series for a while, having enjoyed vv, nocturne, 4, 4a, devil survivor, SJ. Are the original 1, 2 games for snes/ps1 still worth playing through? The narrative sounds interesting and I like the look of it but am concerned how frustrating the game might get due to its age (mechanics, not graphics). Is this a valid concern? Are they still worth it?
For historical purposes I guess.
SMTI gameplay might as well not exist, it's Nerve bullet spam before Kongou and then it's Girimekhala's Bind Voice spam for the rest of the game, the encounter rate also gets ridiculous in the endgame, specifically in the endgame, but the game has a lot of atmosphere in its simplicity.
SMTII is largely the same, it's just more polished in every regard, if you could bear the completely mindless gameplay of stuff like 4 or Nocturne you can play SMTI/II just fine, they're also fairly short games and the PS1 remasters add a lot of neat QoL, just accept that MAG builds are not a thing for Hero/Aleph and you're set.
Genuinely yes. They're nice puzzle boxes with some gold atmosphere and great music.
>>714476367Fair enough, thanks. I already have experience with soul hackers so kinda know what to expect but wasn't sure how much more archaic these were compared to hackers
>>714476429I'll just dive into ps1 versions then. At least for 1, 2 has no english translation
>>714476093 (OP)Eat shit nigger. If you have to ask then fuck off.
>>714476093 (OP)before you go into the SMT games from 4th generation perhaps you should try the 5th generation first
play Slop Hackers and Persona 1 (PSP), gameplay speaking both of them are in the middle between SJ and SMT 1/2/If...
