Playtest is up. This game is dead on arrival.

Microtransactions are already in the game in it's alpha state. The price is $6.99 for 500 credit with a maximum of $135 for 130,000 credit. One sticker costs 250, shoes cost 750, hats cost 400, gestures cost 800, decks cost 300, etc. You CANNOT earn this currency in game. Instead, you earn a secondary currency and with this secondary currency you buy what it essentially lootboxes. So if you want something, you either have to spend real life money or pull from one of the hundreds of items in game.

For some reason you can only make your character a blasian sims character.

The music in the game is straight up ass.

Props are all straight up useless. If anything they're a griefing tool because retards just place shit all over the good spots and ruin them. And it's online only :)

all the other stuff is no surprise to me, it was expected

>"alpha playtest"
>same year release date and microtransactions
They aren't going to change anything on release, you're playing the release now.

The microtransactions are only cosmetics thoughbeit. Skate pieces like ramps and rails can all be unlocked F2P through the loot crates that are relatively easy to get credits for.
There are paid-exclusive clothes and decks/parts but there's also free stuff to unlock.
The game is gonna be dead because it's shit, not the MTX.
>sanitized as fuck
>no skater culture present whatsoever
>ugly overly vibrant color palette
>world is tiny as fuck and way too vertical
>challenges are piss easy
>bail mode/hall of meat is worse than skate 3 somehow
>only cool thing is seeing a bunch of people skating in the overworld and impromptu prop sessions

>Skate 4 announced 2020
>still not released in 2025

>Skate 1 released in 2007
>Skate 3 released in 2010

So now in 5 years they can't release 1 (one) game but back then they could shit out 3 brand new ones in the span of 3 years?

This is the whole map? Just these 3 areas? I thought this was only one part of the map. Jesus Christ, how grim.

wow almost like the development studio got killed and then it took a few years for a new one to form and then start developing the game
oh wait that's exactly what happened

>>714480201
there's four but they're all deceptively small
the map makes it look like a lot but you can skate end-to-end in one of the four regions in like 5 minutes

I'm still kind of shocked how they haven't bothered to license more brands. The only brands that have been in the alphas for the last 2 years are Nike, Vans, Dickies, Girl and Chocolate. You would think that if they wanted to sell microtransactions that they would put more focus on this.

Skater XL is good but only if you use mods. Session is ok out of the box but they did just implement a terrible update that reduced the max frame rate from 120 to 60. Both of the games get barely any ongoing support and both dev teams have constantly lied about updates and timelines.

first update in ages last week that made the game worse.
>Skatelab
Haven't played because just how early in development it is but looks promising.

licensing is expensive, it's cheaper to make parody brands
nike is the only really expensive one there, vans dickies girl and chocolate all have a lot less name value
