after every enemy defeated. here is your new shitty katana and strawhat to clog up your inventory with useless shit with lowert stats than you have currently equipped. why?
>>714492097 (OP)
Just got to edo and beat blue demon. Pure kino. Wish combat was a bit more like nioh but regardless it's addictive to just chain style combos and score those sparks

I thought it was ok but forcing you to use it otherwise every single enemy has hyper armor during their attacks was really crappy design. >>714492993
I just set it to auto-sell everything bellow orange quality after like the first two hours of gameplay.
>>714496201 >forcing you to use it otherwise every single enemy has hyper armor during their attacks was really crappy design
I thought so at first but I grew to like it. Being able to cancel light attack animations straight into counter sparks, coupled with your ranged weapons, generous dodges and generally fast animations means you can maintain pressure even of they're not panicked. The well telegraphed attacks from enemies help this too.
>>714496606
Dual sword is well telegraphed BUT there's no real animation from when they're crossing their blades to when they hit stun your nip ass. You know it's coming though so you better get good. Oxtail is crazy but you generally know the minimum amount of time between successive hits and after a few oxtail bandits you get it

My impression is that it has kinda fun combat but is very derivative of Nioh/Wo Long with lots of open world slop design, so I was gonna wait until a good sale to get it just as an enjoyable slop game. Is my impression about right?

Just feels like another game in their line up of post nioh experimental titles. Combat system isn't particularly deep but you have tons of options for moves across 9 weapons that will keep you entertained. Open world is serviceable and the loot autism feels toned down in favour of more straight up action. I like more than wo long but not as much as nioh. Probably on par with stranger of paradise for me

The gameplay was the biggest turn off about tushima. Gorgeous visuals wasted on the most dull combat system in any of these samurai/ninja games
>>714499582
Is it actually any good? The worst part about odyssey was any fight with an enemy 2 or so levels above your own meant chipping away at inflated hp bars for half an hour. Completely immersion breaking.
>>714492097 (OP)
I actually quite enjoyed it but the open world was a pile of crap.
Literally just bandit camp bandit camp bandit camp random collectible. All the bandit camps are just staffed by the same dudes and minibosses that have the same weapon movesets.
At some point I just started rushing the missions and then it played sort of like a normal Nioh game and the main story bosses were a lot of fun.

I think that's the trick. Outside of missions I only really do dojo stuff and seek out bosses

Meeting other people's ronin out in the world was an interesting mechanic. I just wish everyone actually used the character creator more. I end up just running into the main stock protagonist over and over again
>>714492953
Tbh the combat is the only enjoyable part once it clicks. The game would've been improved if they skipped the story and went straight to the post-game content
>>714502682
The combat and loot don't have the depth for proper post game content, hence the half hearted midnight mode that they obviously whipped up in a week without really testing it.
>>714502994
I made my guy look more like toshiro mifune and just went with it. I had trouble distinguishing a few characters since all the anti shogunate guys rook the same.
>>714502937
Yeah the looting really takes a step back. Feels like they wanted more of an action approach even with the ki bar still present. It's fine. I wouldn't want to grind for graces in ronin anyway
>>714503297
Looting obviously got downgraded because this was TNs big attempt at breaking into the casual market, they wanted this game to sell 5 million copies everything about its design makes sense when you remember that
>>714501249 >Is it actually any good? The worst part about odyssey was any fight with an enemy 2 or so levels above your own meant chipping away at inflated hp bars for half an hour. Completely immersion breaking.
Yes you can parry anything if you can time it correctly but the same issue that you mentioned is still present unfortunately
