In what moment in time did consumers just accept mediocrity and greed as the standard?

i like some movie games but hate everything else on this list. Movie games at the very least usually don't incorporate that much of everything else on that list.

when geek culture became normalized

corporations realized nerds actually spent a lot of money on their entertainment, so instead of clowning on them like normal, they turned everyone into "geeks" and made "nerd culture" cool and hip, so now everyone is a potential consumer

I'm about to tech you a lesson on economics. There is something called "inflation", okay? Prices rise and as a result, companies need more money to make the products you love. How do companies make money you ask? Good question! Through you, dumbass. Now with that established, would you be satisfied with playing games with N64 graphics for the rest of your life after seeing the power of today's graphics and animation? No? Well sorry buddy, it costs a LOT of money to make them look really nice. It also costs a lot of money to code, debug, and test the game too because we don't live in the era of simplicity with shit like Pong or Pac-Man.

tl;dr You live with your parents and don't know basic economics. Businesses need money to make games. Inflation and rising industry standards has made the cost and length of games more complex.
