have you guys tried any other "gaming" distros like bazzite on the deck? Are they worth it or is it better to just stick with steamOS?

Nope. Windows is definitely your problem though. PCSX2 runs smooth as butter on SteamOS.

That's completely pointless. Bazzite is a SteamOS knockoff for other handheld PCs. You have a genuine Steam Deck so you should be using the genuine SteamOS.

Everybody uses retrodeck now because it runs faster and they actually tailored the settings for the steam deck rather than the blanket option for all handhelds that emudeck does now (unless you paid for the super special awesome settings specific to your device, only on their pay-treoon!)

Before installing windows I did do a bunch of benchmarks and the performance is honestly on par with steamOS for most things. Cyberpunk is about 5% slower on windows.

I came across a reddit thread that actually fixed the frame rate. It's runng fine now. openGL, Maximum Frame Latency and selecting Skip Presenting Duplicate Frames box seems to have done the trick

One of the updates broke PCSX2 in Game mode. For whatever reason going windowed (hold the Steam button and use the right touchpad and double click R2) fixes any slowdowns. I'm guessing there's some conflict with gamemode's built in vsync or some shit
