New Vegas has the idea that if the character gives a massive information dump, that's "deep" characterization.

Notice every Big Bad in New Vegas gives line after line after line of basically the same pseudo philosophical arguments that sound like the character is one of those college roommates who just completed Philosophy 101 and has to use big words they don't understand to sound deep.
