Depends on how much you value the "adventure" aspect. Survival horror has an interest in exploration and puzzle elements. Action horror's mostly about mowing down waves of enemies. If all you care about is shooting things then sure, the distinction doesn't matter.

RPGs don't need the distinction for the most part because a game being an RPG is a focal point in itself. Though there are exceptions if something notable is created and people want more of it specifically, such as "Souls-like", even though for all intents and purposes it's an action RPG. It's just a distinction used among people who like playing those specific games, that shouldn't upset you.

Dead Space 1 and 2 depends greatly on the difficulty you play it one. If you play them on easier/normal they are action-horror games and can be piss easy. If you play them on hard they are survival horror games that will make you piss yourself.
