How come frag mines and grenades are usually misrepresented in games?
Their deadliness is greatly reduced even in enclosed spaces were they don't go off into hundrets of deadly fragments like they are supposed to and usually just cause a slight concussion past 10 meters? Meanwhile real mines and grenades can wipe out an entire platoon without an issue.

Make explosives require specific skill investments, make them more expensive or rare to loot, make them cause friendly fire.
There are thousands of options to blance without making them into fireworks.

We need to go back to equipping grenades before they can be used. Dedicated grenade buttons were a mistake. They should take time to equip so you actually have to think about when you're using them.

Because ALL weapons and other physical phenomena are often greatly diminished, to outright comedic levels, just to provide a more "fun", arcadey and / or balanced gameplay.

You don't just walk off a .223 projectile to the gut or even to limbs.
The average distances you "snipe" people in a typical CoD or BF game would be a literal "Danger Close!" distance in real life; ironsights-only assault rifle distances.
And the NOISE even a 9mm handgun makes literally can break your ear drum.

You get very close to real-life threat levels in Military Sims, but obviously the average ADHD consoomer won't ever fall in love with those.

Funnily enough, people often also EXAGGERATE other things, such as shotgun blasts making the victim fly several dozen feet backwards (with a flip) when hit.

Eh to be fair that requires you to be indoors with lots of echo and repeated fire
But then again, you fire guns with higher calibers often enough that yeah the noise would be a real problem

Even typical modern handguns make noise louder than the 120 db that can instantly damage your hearing. Most rifles are in the 160db category, which is why so many old vets were half deaf.
And don't get me started with the artillery grunts...

It's just a good thing that modern day militaries prioritize hearing protection, even doubling up with plugs + active muffs.

The only thing that can wipe out a platoon spaced unit is about 50kg explosive fragmentation, or an area equivalent.

I play milsim and they're boring as shit.
Assault rifles mog everything. Arty denies everything.
Want to take a building? Chuck grenades everywhere through the windows. GG you won and towelheads can't do shit.
