Yes, the Olympics wanted NFTs instead (look it up), and the games weren't profitable enough on their own for Sega or Nintendo to fund more themselves.

Sonic and Blaze fits more than Sonic and Amy. Blaze actually has character, and Sonic and Blaze can interact with each other in a more interesting way. Princess, protector of the sol emeralds and free spirit blue hedgehog romance sounds nice.

To be fair, they didn't sell that well after the Wii. You can maybe blame the Wii U being a failure, or say that no one wanted to play these on the 3ds, a handheld. But the one on Switch also flopped. It sold less than Bayonetta 3 which killed Platinum lol.
