The story was shit, the characters were shit, the main villain was shit, the junction and draw system were dogshit. There's a reason Square skipped remaking FF8 and is remaking FF9 instead, it's because FF8 is a shit game.
No fucking way, the most interesting story it lays groundwork for (Squall and Laguna's juxtaposed emotional capacities) gets totally glossed over as the entirety of the game's pacing goes to complete shit 40% into the game in service of dumb space witch GF rescue
