HOLY. FUCKING. COPE.
the game was in development since 2018, they already had all the ideas, it was not a new IP. All they had to do was make the same game from 2007 but in a new engine and 7 years is not enough? fuck off.

I know scoped weapons were quite useful in the OG trilogy but they feel almost mandatory now. The lack of visual clarity is jarring and the game relies on "end of the game horde of humans" fights every few hours or so it gets draining fast. Getting pinpoint shot by a guy half a mile away that's obscured by a bunch of foliage while learning out a doorway is ass too. I'm still trying to beat the game for the sake of it but I've lost a lot of steam after SIRCAA. I was enjoying it a lot more before that.

>without blaming russia
You really don't have to blame pyccka. They should have had a finished game on their hands by the time the invasion began.
The problem is UE5 and how modern devs disassociate from gamers. The game is smeared, blurry, and runs like shit. (the hardware survey continues to show that most people use 60 tier cards, on which this would be especially true).
It's a shame because GSC did some really cool black magic voodoo shit with their old engine.

Yeah, almost every stalker looks the same regardless of which faction they're in, combine that with the lack of binoculars and the microscopic 'sandbox' >>714564494 where things despawn once they're 100 meters away and it's a recipe for a bad experience. Pretty much everything is stacked against you but not in a way that makes overcoming those odds rewarding.
>artifacts are still boring and sell for very little
>side quests are few and far between and generally aren't worth doing
>weapons and armour are prohibitively expensive to repair and they'll get their durability chewed through far too quickly
>utterly nonsensical balancing regarding weapons and ammo types, the starting pistol is better than most mid-game assault rifles
>if you actually want to do damage in the late game, you'll need AP ammo which further increases weapon degredation
>jarring overuse of bloodsuckers, seriously they're more common than boars and fleshes
>lost to le zone xD death counter
>mutants in general are massive bullet sponges that only serve as an equipment and condition tax
>most of the late game is just walking between objectives kilometers apart from each other, as the game starts to take fast travel spots away from you for some fucking reason

The bloodsucker thing is really annoying. I think you encounter at least 6-7 bloodsuckers throughout the missions and in the wild their spawn rate seems fucked up too. They are such a bitch to fight as well, the devs really let their status as "the stalker mutant" get into their heads and made them mini bosses because they are so epic and scary.

>A pure furry game that has actually unironically nice gameplay that holds up on its own instead of being mediocre and carried by the character design
>>Nobody even really gives a shit about the characters
>EA but more fleshed out than its competitors
>No hands, somehow more atmospheric than its competitors
>Its entire concept is stalker word-for-word, down to the anomalies, underground labs and characters literally named stalkers. Unlike every other copycat/uninspired clone on earth, its outright better in what it rips off instead of a directly worse version

I thought it was alright so i can't blame Russia. They're too busy making shit games like Atomic Heart in which reviewers on steam unironically congratulate positive reviews with 'comrade' or other soviet style agitprop like Squad 22 ZOV. But in all seriousness i didn't mind the game, but it seemed a little too much in the Far Cry direction in some ways and didn't feel true enough to STALKER would be my complaints. And for what it's worth it was better than Atomfall. The performance on the other hand is something that we'll all talk about being terrible, but that's just how this generation will be on Unreal Engine 5. Perhaps they should have used inhouse engine, would it have changed much? slavs can't optimize anything to save their lives.

I just reinstalled after the latest patch (played 7 hours at launch and dropped it in disgust). I'm not far in enough to judge the updates to A-Life, but performance still sucks. I have a 7800X3D and a 4080 Super and the game still feels rough and doesn't run as well as it should. And they've actually introduced new bugs, like NPCs flying away if you kill them with a headshot. Good luck finding their corpse to loot after they blast off into the sky.

No real sight lines or sense of discovery as most exploration boils down to running from point a to point b with nothing to look at or do
>Combat is horrible, AI is dumb as hell but also cheats with insane accuracy so you just have to tank damage from bullet sponge enemies that can snipe you from far enough away that you can't really see them since the games visuals are so muddy
>Horrendous economy and progression, way too easy to stumble upon really good gear, stashes are always there even if you didn't pick up a hint for it so you'll just constantly be swimming in supplies and food that you don't need. Armor costs too much to repair if you upgrade so it's better to never interact with upgrades
>Less features than the old games, there wasn't a life on launch, no idea how it's implemented now but the system they had before was the worst possible implementation where enemies blatantly spawn right behind you from nowhere
>Story is pretty okay as far as a STALKER game goes but a lot of the old factions got shafted without having any real involvement with the plot
>The open world is so big but the amount of loot is about the same as the old game so the reward for exploration is vodka and bandages 99% of the time
>Mutants like chimeras and pseudo giants have way too much health for their own good making them a slog to fight
>Speaking of mutants there's only like 1 or 2 new ones compared to the old game which is pathetic
There's plenty more but those are my main gripes, the biggest problem really is that economy and open world they're just so fucking horrible and huge for no reason and have no substance.

>Sergei kicked all of the original GSC out, canceled STALKER 2 project back in 2012, kept the IP hostage, bought 2 new Ferraris, hired Westoid fuckers + Sweet Baby Inc to design a brand new Stalker 2, in Unreal 5, and started shilling paid DLC, NFTs and battle passes 5 years prior the release, ultimately releasing a broken, fugly, barebones parody of all things Stalker mixed with Ubishit

Bear in mind I just started over on the hardest difficulty. I actually was scrambling for vodka to combat radiation. Either way, as silly and entertaining a bug as it is, it is immersion breaking if nothing else.

I've got no idea what they were smoking because it was an absolute shitshow on release. I tried it after 1.5 and it is competent enough.

>Exploration
Yeah, you have a lot of stashes with nothing but vodka and bandages, but you also get unique stuff like upgrades, guns, or armor if you actually explore.
>Combat
You are supposed to headshot human enemies, which I enjoy, but yeah, it can get annoying if you don't. Also, there is no exosuit spam endgame anymore.
Mutants are no longer bullet sponges and now there's a purpose now with mutant loot.
>Economy
Endgame loot is not walled off but you have to earn far more money than early/midgame to actually use it consistently. I think it's a good decision.

Not a bad game at all, the systems are all there now. The exact values you might want to tweak but there are mods for that. I'd compare this game to Oblivion, if anything. Modding is arguably highly encouraged, but you don't need to mod a lot.

Project Silverfish and Into the Radius are the only decent STALKER clones imo. Tunguska: The Visitation ain't bad but perspective not being first person changes things too much. But yeah Silverfish just sort of came out of nowhere and is actually pretty competent for what it is.

It was developed to run on an Xbox Series S, rather than high-end PCs (where the actual STALKER audience is).

The Xbox Series S and it's consequences have been a disaster for the gaming race.

it's so unfinished and so janky that it goes far beyond basic slavjank. when they make 5 hour long retrospectives in a couple of years, only then the game might be done.

Stalker was always popular with PC gamers. Analmeme is the result of 13 years worth of modding.
