Want to make some rooms for you and anons to play?
Go to "friends", "Register a Friend" and add the friend code of the host. Press a and then b to back out to the wifi menu, then go back to "Friends", "Find a Friend" and click them. You should now be in the lobby and should wait for others. Eazy! Btw for anyone wanting to make a open lobby in this game, just go to friends, and press the + button. read the message and select ok. just post your friend code in the thread and others can join.
(note: if it says "unable to join" the lobby is currently racing, you need to wait some minutes for the races to finish and the lobby to open again)

Double Dash had netplay natively, you could LAN with up to 16 players. Technically you can also netplay it via Dolphin natively.

This is known, but using LAN requires tunneling software like XLink Kai or Radmin, and the latency requirements are pretty tight. It's likely something that can never be properly done unless there's either a decomp or someone creates a mod that works from the ground up to provide their own netplay instead of relying on the in-built systems, like how Twilight Princess has online multiplayer with enemy sync
