There's no need to claim that they need to create two separate products, the devs are either greedy trying to appeal to their publishers agenda, or simply incompetent.
That aside, they marketed the game as a realistic, immersive and raw experience, something that they did deliver on the launch (not Early-Access). Changing the core content post-release that market wise caused people to buy the game is blatant false marketing, and should be eligible for a refund no matter hours played.
I love their recent publication claiming their customers spread misinformation despite contradicting themselves in the very first paragraph by showing their compared before-and-after images, that clearly screams censorship. From gore to other forms of realistic content. People who defend this might as well defend every other anti-consumer practice done by the modern video game market. Absolutely pathetic.
