"should be" under what determinant principle? They make more money (the immutable goal of every business) on multiplatform. The quality of game is secondary to the amount of money it makes. CDs & DVDs (and probably BluRays) are more resilient than you think, I have a CD with W7 install media burned on it that I've been using as a coaster for the past ~7 years, the disk still reads just fine.

Shitty excuse made by shitty devs. It's fully possible to trigger certain in-game objects to not render for individual users while simultaneously play a crossplay enabled server. There's no need to claim that they need to create two separate products, the devs are either greedy trying to appeal to their publishers agenda, or simply incompetent.

That aside, they marketed the game as a realistic, immersive and raw experience, something that they did deliver on the launch (not Early-Access). Changing the core content post-release that market wise caused people to buy the game is blatant false marketing, and should be eligible for a refund no matter hours played.

I love their recent publication claiming their customers spread misinformation despite contradicting themselves in the very first paragraph by showing their compared before-and-after images, that clearly screams censorship. From gore to other forms of realistic content. People who defend this might as well defend every other anti-consumer practice done by the modern video game market. Absolutely pathetic.

So should I get it or is it time to sail the high seas?

It isn't required. The worst that can happen is that #1: they submit the uncensored version and get an RP (rating pending), or #2: the rating goes through and they get an AO (Adults only) rating.

ESRB is a meme plain and simple. Even if a game has an AO rating you can still buy it through your PSN or xbl account.
