No. My Dad fucking hates gaming. He thinks video games are either identical to the Atari shit he used to play as a kid, toys for children like Mario or Sonic, or murder-rape simulators for depraved psychopaths. Either way, he's not necessarily wrong about them being a waste of time.

When my dad got to 60 he just lost his passion for everything. Used to be into sound systems, electronics, PCs, cameras. i think its because he ran out of people to share the hobby with as he got older.

The man is like 50, he was young during the PS2 era. Old people aren't clueless about games anymore, unless they're just retarded

The main problem with my dad when it comes to video games is that he has absolutely no patience or curiosity. If it's even slightly hard to get into he immediately drops it and just goes back to World of Tanks or RDR2.

Same, but my dad is fond of games with cars, he doesn't play them, but likes seeing me drive cars for some reason, i remember he got pissed at me when i was a kid playing Destroy All Humans because he wanted me to drive cars and i told him you can't, guess he thought it was a GTA clone?

No. My Dad simultaneously allowed genuine game addiction to fester starting in middle school, never put his foot down at all for some level of moderation YET would never listen to me or give a shit when I did try to talk to him about my favorite hobby infinitely superior to at least daytime television The only games he wouldn't show visible disdain towards or confusion were blatantly American and even those he'd tune me out.
Now he's moved on to watching YouTube grifters with his mouth hanging wide open instead of doing the same with TV. He doesn't have any hobbies either

If you make your dad play dark souls as his first experience then its natural for him to think its a waste of time zoomerslop
If he made him play TLOU instead he'd think video games are the best thing since sliced bread

What's funny is that thumbnail is exactly why video games are terrible. wanna be Hollywood writers perpetually angry at daddy for not taking their video game hobby serious so they overcompensate by trying to make it le deep and mature as possible

My dad never really cared about me playing video games (he was very hands-off in my life in general), but he watched me and my brother play some games a few times. He really enjoyed watching us play RE4 on the Gamecube. Had zero inclination to play the games though.

Eh as you get older this is just how it is. You get impatient with everything. I myself wanted to be a teacher when I was 20, because I was patient and willing to teach. At 40, I have zero patience with people who don't understand what I'm saying immediately.

lmao sounds like my dad, though for him he listens to non stop political talk radio. If it's not about something he cares about (which nowadays is ONLY politics), he has zero interest in discussing it.

I've learned theres 2 types of people: active, and passive. Active people like doing things. Passive people like watching others do things.

Why has /v/ allowed itself to be brainwashed/astroturfed into hating video games? You shouldn't be in a video game community if you hate video games.

Back when we had a PS2, there was a time when my dad got really into racing games, especially F1 games. He even bought pedals and steering wheel controller. Our PS2 eventually broke and he showed zero interest in restarting racing gaming on Xbox360 we got few years later.
My maternal grandpa was a gamer though, if a narrow one. He loved flight simulators, city builders and rally games on PC but had zero interest in other kinds genres.

NTA but everyone gets more interested in politics as they grow older in general. Politics are absolutely one of the first things I think of with boomers and so do most people. Doesn't mean I don't think theor brains aren't fucked by lead leading them to only get opinions from grifters and authority fogures and lumping you an opposing party in two-party fake system if you have any nuance
